The moment Tanny was f'd in the ass publicly by Tom Condon over the Aso fiasco it was 'on'. Condon's 2 other big FA players are Braylon Edwards and Cromartie. Here's my theory: paybacks are a bitch. So Tanny dumps Edwards and lets silent rumors float around so NO team signs him. Condon will look like the worst agent in the NFL if he can't work the phones and get a single offer for a top 10 receiver. Dont mess with Tanny. Next, play the Cromartie game until every other team gives up and signs the last of the FA's. Then, when on the verge of giving Cro $10m+ per season, walk away and give Wilson the #2 title leaving Cro (and Braylon) REALLY pissed at Tom Condon. Fk with Tanny? Huge mistake. Huge.
1) Tannenbaum doesn't have the power to stop teams from signing Edwards. Think of it this way: the Jets just signed a 38 year old receiver who's spent the last 2 years in prison for shooting himself in the leg. And they had to outbid other teams to get him. What silent rumors could Tanny start that would be more damaging than that? 2) It would take a lot more than a bad deal for Edwards to make Condon look like the worst agent in football. He's the NFL's Scott Boras (except really he's better, because unlike Boras he seems to have a good relationship with most front offices.)
I think you're being overly optimistic here... plus Condon knows how to do his job pretty damn well... he isn't like Washington's or Revis' agents.
Manny lawson would be a nice addition. His speed and quick hands could be something that would help a strong line with a pass rush. He has always been a cheap option and no reason he wouldnt still be this year. San fran doesnt look to have much intrest in him
Joseph manned up and made a decision, there's no way in hell that this ridiculous bidding war for Cro is still going on. I don't think it's about money at this point....I'm sure each team has hit their max since, you know, it's fucking training camp time and coaches/gm's need to worry about the guys that are def. gonna be on the field in 2011. Cromartie is just being a faggot and making the Jets sweat cus they hurt his feelings.
Yeah Jets have heard that story before. Not that its our responsiabilty to make something out of nothings but we have done it before. He has the physical abilities he just hasnt done the job yet.

at this point im ready to just pull the plug on cromartie, let him sign with the raiders and get his money but never experience a winning season for the rest of his career. he got spoiled playing on good chargers and jets teams. im ready to make a trade with some team on a serviceable no.2 out there. im sure tanny can work his magic and get us someone decent for a 4th or later pick
