Can't say I'm thrilled with the signing. I've got no issue with Plax personally as he did his time and let's move on. I just don't think at his age and his position he is going to contribute in the same way Edwards did. I'm glad it's a on year deal but there were better , younger, and more game ready players on the market. The Giants surely missed Burress but I don't know if he signed with them if he would contribute either.
He isn't as good as Edwards, but there's also a reason that he only got 1 year, $3 million (you can be sure Braylon will get a much bigger payday.) If it's true that the Jets are scrambling to come up with the money to keep Cromartie, then I can understand why they went for a cheaper, short term option.
Signing Cro Mart to a long term wouldn't be something I'm in favor of either. I don't have a ton of confidence in Wilson but we drafted him last year. Is the coaching staff already deciding he can't play in the league? He's not a Nickel Corner so why not put the money elsewhere and see if he can play? They haven't even seen him this year but like has been pointed out, he was working out on Revis Island in the offseason. Give the kid a chance.
As I mentioned in another thread, I think that the Jets would be taking a very different approach if not for the lockout. Because the coaches haven't gotten to see Wilson since January, they have no idea whether he's improved and whether or not they can trust him as a starter. I tend to agree with you that the Jets should be targeting Rogers or Buchanon as a 1-2 year option instead of committing longterm to Cro. But at the same time, in the NFL you never know how long your window to win a championship is going to be open, so I understand why Tannenbaum is focused on fielding the best team that he can today (even if it hurts us a few years down the road.)
As a general rule it's poor practice to steal jokes from Bill Simmons, but I just couldn't help myself
pretty horrendous offseason so far ive said it before and I'll stress it again. how we never heard even a story that we were turned down by Zach miller is beyond me. 34 yr olds dont come out of a 2 year prison stint and take the NFL by storm. he was never fast to begin with and will prolly end up pulling a hammy in training camp. WR or Safety appear to be next years 1st rd pick. so basically if we plan on doing ANYTHING this year its time for Sanchez and Wilson to take their play to the next level and we need alot of people to stay healthy on d
That is very true, I'm just a fan. I may not like the moves and we'll see a few months or years down the road how they turn out but I trust what these guys are doing. 2 consecutive AFCG earns them that. Now had we finsihed 4-12 and 5-11 the last two years different story but Tanny and Rex know how to build a winner so I'll trust them even if I don't like what they're doing.
For those Bashing Plax, you will be the same one's saying "Im so glad we got Plax. He's the F*cking man, etc. etc." Stop Bashing him until you have a reason to.
I don't think people are bashing him as much as questioning how much can he contribute. He's no pup and he just spent 2 years in prison. I have serious doubts he was catching passes from an NFL QB instead of getting conjugal visits.
Any bashing is not football related as much as "it takes a real moron to accidentally shoot them-self" related. Pretty sure that there is nobody above getting bashed for that. The rest is just doubt about coming back to the game after so long.
The fact that they're hellbent on signing another corner suggests that reports from the Island may be that he needs more time before he's ready to handle the #2 job.
ok, ill give you that. It was pretty dumb that he shot his self. However, he, like you, is a human being. I mean, im sure you have done dumb things in life (maybe not as dumb as shooting your self, but still). The only person that suffered from it was him. He went to prison.........and got shot. He shouldt have had the gun, but thats everyday life. people do things there not suppose to. He's paid his dues, and done his time. It's time to forget about the whole shooting thing, and focus on what he brings to the team. Unless he brings a gun with him on the field, and shoots someone else, it is no longer an issue. He is now a Jet. Like it or not. You either support the whole team, and those that play on it, or my friend, your not a true fan.
