As part of the Jets hectic pace on getting Antonio Cromartie under contract, they are calling around on trades to clear cap room.

Interesting. I wonder which players they could be looking to trade (Pace, BT?), and to get even more cap space? If they had enough for Asomugha, why would they need even more for Cro?

Why would you want that? Starting OLBs of Thomas and Westerman?

EDIT: just missed the obvious joke

This is true. My only concern is that it seems awfully unlikely that he'd take that info from anyone but a team that took a trade call.

Maybe the Jets are working the phones to make a trade period, not just for cap space

I can't think of a player we'd want to trade or a good reason to need to trade. Our depth is shaky as is.

Samuel would be a horrible fit. Man to man/press coverage is not his strength. More of a zone corner.

I hope half of that is true. Asante can't play corner for Rex.

A trade would be a bad option for Samuel, and to just further support the Eagles...

Mike, go get Carlos Rogers if Cro doesn't sign; we'll save money as well.

I'm thinking that Samuel could play free safety in Rex's D. However, he'd have to rework his contract.....$9M/year for a saftey is a non-starter.

LT took a $1.5 million paycut to open cap space per Mr. Mackey.
