Opposing personnel guy on Jets' pursuit of Cromartie: "They'll have to overpay because he knows he's the second choice." Second to Nnamdi

What a stupid stupid argument... any CB in the NFL except Revis is 2nd choice to Asomugha...

Depends on how much guaranteed money he receives. A large signing bonus and a low first year salary means a sizable hit if you want to cut him prematurely.

If we sign Cro, this free agency period was fine. Burress is a downgrade from BE, but it's certainly not the end of the world. If we get Heap and Cro, then in my opinion it was very solid free agency period.

Also....any word on K. Ellis? Did they get his legal crap worked out? He needs to be in camp ASAP.

Haven't seen anyone say that Cro is signed. Schefter says it is close to a deal, that is all.

They apparently are not signing him until the legal issue is sorted out.

Honestly, I dont really care how much it takes to get cro back as long as we get him back. Last year, Cro played his ass off for us and had a tremendous year. It was often Cro that was lined up against teams #1's while Rex created other mismatches in his crazy schemes, not to mention that without Brad Smith available in the playoffs, it was Cromartie who made arguably one of the biggest kickoff returns of the year! It's amazing to me how quickly some people on this board forget instrumental players from the year before and dismiss them as no longer a need. Cromartie was a huge part of our success last year, as i hope he will be again this year.

Furthermore, with losing Brad Smith, it would be nice to know that we at least have one viable kickoff return man until we see what else we've got. For those complaining it will cost the jets too much, rationalize it as you're getting a pro bowl caliber db and kr all in one!

I honestly can't see them using Cro as a kick returner. He is far too valuable as a CB

This thread helped me. I'm in Vegas, trying to keep up through Twitter and TGG thread titles on my phone. Too hard to scroll and read long threads on the phone.

In agree for the most part, but in big moments, such as the Indy game last year, he's an awesome weapon to have...

I agree, in the playoffs, anything goes at that point.

Continue to hear the Jets and Raiders showing the most sustained interest in CB Antonio Cromartie.

A bidding war vs Senile Al isn't something you want to get into... damn I hate the Raiders...

I just took that post as Rich Cimini just being Rich Cimini as always. He's already laying down the groundwork to blast the Jets for waiting on Nnamdi so long and having to "overpay" for Cro. Like you said, it is a ridiculous idea to think the Jets would have to overpay Cro now because of their flirtations with Nnamdi. I'm sure Tanny and the front office have a number they feel comfortable going to with Cro and will not exceed it no matter the circumstances. He's not getting close to Revis and Nnamdi money. If he wants that, Tanny will wave him goodbye just as he's done with Braylon.

i sure hope there isn't any more "paternity money" coming from the jets this time....

anyone know if cro has any more kids assigned to him since the lockout started?

Well, in March I moved down here to Florida, and I didn't visit much because of the lockout, because I know how this board gets with shit like Revis holdout, Nnamdi deal, etc, so I kinda just focused on other things.

I'm back now that football season is right around the corner though.

    We we we so excited.

well we went to the AFC Championship game with cro in the face of some injuries (leonhard) so at this point after the aso cluster fuk there may be a premium buried in there for him - and i am sure both sides have calculated that to he penny.

Honestly, I wish we would just commit to Wilson.
