1050 talks to much basketball for me, but god, when its time to talk football, like the last week, they are just killing it. Not just the national guys, the local guys to. Of course that exludes Mike Lupica who does not count as sports person, he's to cool for that. Seriously, the Wfan with the baseball SNORE show this morning going up against 1050 was laugable. 1050 is great today. Love the football talk and the baseball trading deadline has dissapeared thanks to the NFL. We are gonna sign Cro and Heap today along with Plax.... yippie. Thanks Woody.
I like boomer and carton and joe and evan during football season and weeks like this. They are so pro jets. I fucking love it! Other than that I usually listen to national guys. Fatcessa is atrocious and kay doesn't know shit about football.
I think both stations are pretty shit tbh. I only like Boomer & Carton because they're a bit raunchy and it's always good to hear some dirty humor at 8 in the morning on the way to work.
Joe and Evan are good because Evan usually monitors Twitter, so he's usually up-to-date on everything. I like Evan a lot. Benigno I can take or leave, but at least he's a passionate Jets fan. Francesa runs a great show sometimes, but it's way too much baseball. 1050 is totally hit and miss. Sometimes it's really good, other times, not so much. The biggest problem is that the station's reception is so shitty I can barely hear it where I am.
I don't mind Francesa for his opinion on things non Jets related, and even with on the field Jets stuff he's not terrible. But he blows anything off the field out of proportion to the point it's impossible to listen to.
1050 is the best around and there is no such thing as too much basketball talk... but yes you're right wen it comes time for football they go all out from am to PM best of which being the mike and mike morning show who in one day can have like 8 different people on all talking football Mike Greenberg is a great jets fan btw... lives and dies everyweek during the season depending on whether or not they win lol
they have all 3 major sports covered with their line up btw Football- Mike Golic of the mike and mike morning show- a former nfl player and Don Legrecca the radio voice of the Jets basketball- Steven A smith- as inside as an NBA insider can be other than being on the team and Bill Daughtry current MSG employee Baseball - Michael Kay the tv voice of the Yankees and Ryan ruocco the lead guy on Yankees on demand (and heir apparent to Michael kay?)
The best thing about 1050 is their reach. It seems they can get anyone anytime in any sport when needed from management, to agents to players to owners, commissioners etc. M&M are a bit to antiseptic. When I can routinely figure out their programming on any given day then its clear they've jumped the shark. They never bring anything new or unusual to the show. Yes they're boringly consistent and not offensive like fasto on 660 and that's good when you want that but I think most viewers need more. I hate the Lupica show. Listening to Stephen A. is like nails against a blackboard to me. Kay can be good because he isn't afraid to give an opinion and supports it but he doesn't know enough in depth about different sports to be a can't miss it show.
fatcessa is truly the worst its bizarre that anybody would still be listening to that bitter angry old hypocritical windbag. Get Sirius and just listen to Sirius NFL - 20 times better than 660 or 1050.
Although I must admit the day, and weeks following the heats spanking at the hands of Dirk and co was some of the finest radio ive ever heard in my life. Bw the SF fans cryin wining and making excuses to the radio people being borderline suicidal, it was gorious. So glad the NBA is gonna lockout the whole year.
Yeah 1050 is great for interviews and getting the scoop. Michael Kay seriously knows very little about the sport of football to the point that it's disturbing how adamant he is about his opinions when they lack any foundation. I can't listen to the guy talk about football. Great baseball guy tho I'll give him that.
Sirius NFL is good, I tried listening to Russo's channel, but he didn't even know who was signed yet. I got the impression that his information people are slow to get the news, which is hard to believe being that all you need is the internet to keep up to date.
My son and I listened to Sirius NFL the entire trip to Pittsburgh to watch the Jets game last year. Good stuff.
