Mostly the fact that a lot of people on this board can't see that. When he was traded to the Jets almost everyone assumed Cotchery would be moved to the slot.

Looks like it to me. We could be dangerous in the redzone now. This will also make Holmes more dangerous there too because they'll have to account for the Plax jumpballs.

With Burress signing I have a feeling we won't get Heap. But who knows, if no one is really interested in his services we might be lucky enough to sign him!

Zach Miller would be a great pickup.

This would be one of the best pickups of the offseason IMO. A HUGE upgrade over Ben fucking Hartstock. A big, reliable target in the red zone (coupled with Plax), allows this team to improve its biggest offensive weakness last year. A receiving core of:

Holmes/Cotch/Plax/Keller/Heap with McKnight/LT out of the backfield is VERY solid

Why do all these reporters think that the Patriots invented the 2 TE set last year?

This would definitely help our redzone offense. Hartstock was useless down there, and Heap is a nice big target.

Maybe Tom Moore is already having an influence. The Colts often used a 2 TE set with 2 guys who are receiving threats. I'd rather have Burress + Heap than just Edwards. This could be a nice move.

we dont need another TE. The JETS have been distracted this FA period I see.

A big upgrade over Harstock at TE. Cumberland as 3rd TE. Jets very solid at this position if Heap signs.

If Heap signs, it kind of eliminates the need for Cumberland. Mulligan would be more likely as the 3rd TE I think.

I read through this thread but say if we do, Heap I dont think we will get for cheap and hes injury happy. We should stay focus on getting a CB first then talk about the left overs after. All this talk about signing old players while we still havent gotten a decent CB is getting to me.

Now the Jets are closing in on a deal for their free-agent cornerback Antonio Cromartie.

    Any more theories?

I don't think Heap's that great of a signing but maybe I'm wrong.

A second TE that can block and catch can be a huge upgrade in the offense. Not sure why people are getting up in arms over the Jets looking into signing Heap. When healthy, he is a huge upgrade over any current TE on the roster other than Keller.

That's a good point. Heap was expendable in Baltimore because of Dickson/Pitta.
    Heap's durability is a concern.
