Now the Jets are closing in on a deal for their free-agent cornerback Antonio Cromartie.

Well, at least he hasn't pegged our chances of re-signing Cro at "80%" . . .

This is very good news. A free agent period of Holmes / Plax / Cro is outstanding in my eyes. A month or so ago we all would have been thrilled with just Holmes and Cro.

The Jets very clearly prioritized the corner positions more than #2 receiver. They didn't want to commit the money and years to bring Edwards back. As much as I liked Braylon, it's probably the right way to go.

I hope everyone is starting to feel better about things, if Cromartie does indeed sign.

Brought back Santonio, Eric Smith, Rob Turner, Wayne Hunter and brought in Donald Stickland for corner depth. Got the #2 receiver they obviously liked on a low-risk deal. Might bring in Todd Heap to make the 2 TE set formidable. And hopefully about to bring back their #2 corner. I expect to see a safety brought in as well.

This would be great if we signed Cro...FA wouldnt look so bad then even after the Nnamdi debacle- Holmes, Cro and a BIG WR for Sanchez... Would love a passrusher but that might be too much of wishful thinking

I agree.. we all got our hopes up with Asomugha and then got bummed about not bringing back Braylon.

But if the Jets do bring back Cro, and replaced Coleman with Strickland, and factor in the expected improvement of Kyle Wilson.. this year's corner group will be better than last years.

With the money saved from Aso/Edwards not signing, if we have a decent deal with the father of the year to play DB. Whats next a safety or pass rusher.

With this D I would be willing to try and trade a 4th or 5th for Osi and have him just rush the QB...If players like Ware and Williams can stand up I think Osi might be able to with his pure speed/first step.

I'm still fully expecting this. You know he's got an itchy trigger finger.. he's gonna bring someone in, whether a safety or OLB help and trade a future pick.

You know Schefter follows incarcerated bob on twitter :p?

PS As much as I'm happy if we sign Cro to a reasonable deal it pisses me off to think Wilson won't be our #2 CB in the long run... I think he has the talent to do it. But with Revis and Cro signed long term I don't think he'll get the chance to prove it.

Also, don't really know what to take from this, maybe a trade? All speculation I suppose.
