Something like going out for a night on the town to celebrate their huge contracts and ending up ramming their car full of hookers into a cute puppy store? Yeah, that would have sucked.

But that isn't worth the price difference. now we can move on to other signings to improve the team.

I don't think it was Plax who requested that...

I've always loved Plax and he is a better red zone target for Mark Sanchez than Braylon was. Braylon was big but never was a huge redone threat.

    He's a hired gun.

Schefter (for what it's worth, he's the only reporter I believe anymore) said he was on his way to SF, and the Jets called him at the airport and offered him this figure. This was supposedly the same figure Plax asked the Eagles for.

Guess he got to pay off some prison debt.

I like this deal. Only one year, it will gve us flexibility down the road to develope.drift a young WR. As we all know, you can not fill every position with established players. With all the long term contracts we have now, it's impossible to have another back-loaded one for Braylon.

The Giants were one of the 2 best teams in the league in 2008 up until his shooting and he was a big reason why. Plax creates mismatches for defenses and helps free up other WR's. He's a prime example of not being a stat WR as he brings a lot more that defenses have to gameplan for.

His best seasons statistically were 2005 with the Giants and 2002 with the Steelers.

The point here is that Burress' size and ability to get jump balls make him a very dangerous target. He has deceptively good speed too.

I said 4-5 years and I think you'll see him out there at 38 because he doesn't have as much tread on his body.

I heard Plaxico's willing to renegotiate down to 2 million and 12 cartons of newports.

Great move, though I wanted Braylon, his price must have been too high.

I had lunch with him couple of times with him at Rikers. He gave me half of his baloney sandwich once and never gave anyone a wreckless eyeball.

    He's a decent guy.

My guess is Tanny is keeping an eye on the future. Braylon would have wanted more money guaranteed over more years. Especially with Holmes having such a low cap figure this year, my guess is we couldn't afford big money moving forward, which is why Edwards has been passed over.

Burress is a boom or bust type signing. Being a 1 year deal, it's low risk. I think a guy like Heap goes hand in hand with this signing. We need another guy who can catch the ball, just in case Burress provides little. Moss probably would have been the better down the field threat, but you can't argue with Burress. After his time away from the game, all the nagging injuries that had slowed him in the past are long gone.

Holmes+Cotchery+Burress+Keller+Heap(?) is a nice set of weapons.

Same here. I'm sure Tanny wanted to offer Braylon around 3-4 million, and he said no. This had to be the only way possible that we could lock up our 2nd CB. Obviously it had nothing to do with his off field issues, since we signed a guy right out of prison.

That said, what's the deal on Plax? I suppose he needs to keep his nose clean all year, or he's suspended? Anyone have the details on that?

In my opinion, this is a downgrade. I don't know, this guy spend the last few years in prison, and while we're getting him on the cheap, who knows what he's going to bring to the team.

Did we even speak with Braylon's team at all?

    Brayyyyyyyyyyyylon!

Ok now that I got that out, I like this mostly due to it stopping the Randy Moss talk.

Other than that we've got a player on the wrong side of 30 that hasn't played ball in 2 years, I hope he can stil get it done.
