Say we don't sign Cromartie or Braylon and the pieces are not falling our way.

Do you think it makes sense for us to do a trade? To bolster the safety, cb, wr, or d-line positions?

Yes - trade away. Give up draft picks if necessary. New England can get an Albert Haynesworth with a 6th round pick I think. What can the Jets get with a 6th round pick?

Trading for a WR would be pretty stupid since there are plenty of options left.

    Same for the DL.

Id be open to trading for a corner (not Asante) or safety, as long as its not another damn 2nd round pick for a 1 year rental.

No point of trading for a WR. Plenty of options as dcm mentioned.Don't need DL this year, not via a trade for sure. As for corner, rather not waste a pick on that either and might as well sign any of the FAs, or just fuck it all together and let Wilson show off. But if we don't go for a corner, I'd like us to get a decent safety to play alongside Leonhard.

One of the advantage Aso would have come with is we would have been just fine with averege to below average safety group. Aso would have instantly saved us some cap there so I understand why our FO was so interested in him. We missed out on a once in a lifetime opportunity, but with Strickland coming back, Im not overly concerned about Wilson moving to #2. We paid a lot for him in the sense of draft pick, so let him show what he brings to the table. I'm pretty confident he'll make it through cuz he had some really nice games to end the season.

I think we will have to trade for a CB. Assuming we can get a FA to replace Coleman (not sure who's suitable) then we need a legitimate #2 or if we're fucked, a #3 and Wilson will have to play #2.

This is the rarest of commodities. When was the last time a premier pass rusher was traded? Wide receivers, cornerbacks, quarterbacks, running backs, etc... all get dealt. The one thing that isn't are pass rushers.

Notice the Steelers dumped Holmes for pennies on the dollar. James Harrison is still under contract with them however...

I wouldn't mind giving away some picks for a legit pass rusher.

Only way I'd want them to trade for a passrusher is that he has been playing OLB or has played OLB and/or has had at least 2-3 years of consistency...

I have to say at this point we just gotta let Wilson be the #2 corner. We drafted him lets let him show us what hes got.

I think even if Wilson struggles we can still make the playoffs and hopefully by then hell have enough game experience to step up in the playoffs.

If not then its all coming down to mark anyway.

Might as well grab the BPA at WR and accelerate some contracts to pay out more this year (freeing up cap space for next year).

Not gonna lie there really arent any big ticket names left out there to get excited over. Unless we can get Braylon at a discount, which sounds doubtful at this point . Other than that there really isnt much we can do

Would love for the Jets to trade for a passrusher... Tanny has been quiet for way too long. Maybe someone like marcus bernard from cleveland

I been on that bandwagon for a while, but the Browns don't want to turn him loose even though he is a bad fit there now.

Would of had a chance at him if he wasn't an ERFA...

Who the fuck is this guy? This is the truth right here. Grade A quality answer.

For all the talk of franchise QBs and shutdown corners, it's the pass rushers who are held onto most tightly.

    Tanard Jackson FS tampa bay.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanard_Jackson#Tampa_Bay_Buccaneers

    My #1 trade for candidate.

And id say theres close to a 0% chance of it happening, but id give up a 6th or even 5th for him in a heartbeat.

Last one was probably Abraham, right?

The problem is there are not many consistent pure pass rushers around.. there are guys who have big years but then go back to being nothing the next year.

I can't even think of guys who might be available. Osi of course, but the Giants wouldn't trade him to the Jets. Robert Mathis maybe? I remember reading he was having contract issues. Maybe Wimbley from Oakland? Really not much available.. Maaaaaaaybe they can pull something off to get Woodley from the Steelers? After next year he probably won't be re-signed in Pitt and they already started drafting replacements..
