The Case for Malcom Floyd.

Discussion in 'New York Jets' started by NDmick, Jul 30, 2011.

  1. My thoughts exactly. Floyd is a solid player..but he has no ceiling and healthis a concern.

Jones has a big time ceiling. You just have to hope he isn't Justin Mccariens part 2

To have no ceiling means he has endless potential. I think you mean he has a low one.

    Do we NEED Malcolm Floyd?

How about giving Cotchery a shot?

We need someone to stretch the field, a deep threat to go along with Holmes

Cotch is a great possession WR but can't take the top off the defense

I just don't see replacing Braylon with a low level No. 2 top level No. 3 receiver. This would be a huge downgrade.

Floyd is a good option, I just worry how much he'll make. I do prefer him over James Jones. Jones has talent, but he has Justin McCareins/Matthew Hatchette written all over him to me.

Braylon is definitely better than Floyd is, but we don't need to invest that much money in WR. If Floyd comes at a somewhat reasonable deal, I would look hard at him. We need another receiver, and Floyd's size and youth would be nice.

Well, we knew what we were getting into when we got all these guys who were free agents after the season. We probably weren't going to be able to keep them all. This isn't news.

This is a team that Rex wants to win via the defense and running game. That's fine, but it also means we don't need to invest a ton of money at receiver. Once we gave Holmes a huge deal, Edwards was all but gone. We can't sink that much money into receiver.

I'm all for continuity, and I'd love to bring Braylon back. I'll have a more firm opinion once I can see the contracts people get, but I completely understand letting him go for money reasons. You can win with Holmes, Cotchery, and a solid third receiver.

Theres no available options that wouldn't be a downgrade from Braylon though.

    I liked Sims-walker, and at 3.7mil he would've been a cheap option.
Breaston wouldn't have been bad either.

This leaves us with Floyd, Burress or Jones as viable options, I'm not even going to bring up Moss or the vomit that would come along with that thought.

Absolutely, it would be nice to find someone to compliment Holmes on the other side of the field that can beat teams deep and let Holmes do what he does best, take a quick slant and beat you like 15 yards

I have no idea, but I'm pretty sure the ones that try in that department.
