2011 New York Jets Free Agency Thread

  1. Yep. Let Carr and Wilson battle it out for the # 2.

Both have potential, both are physical and both fit Rex's scheme perfectly. The loser of the battle is an upgrade at nickel which was a problem spot all of last year.

If Phillip Buchanon is still available, snatch him up too. Great depth and good match-up guy for quick undersized slot wr's. He also is a returner. If we don't get Aso, let's give Wilson his shot w/ some respectable competition and upgrade the DB's on a more global scale.

Carr would be a fine signing. I also think that Richard Marshall from Carolina is a very underrated player, and would be worth a look if we can't bring Cromartie back.

Antonio Cromartie and Santonio Holmes last year?....

There is no point in making a big splash just to make a big splash, that's not how good football teams operate. It's not always necessary to acquire a big name.

God, people are acting like they want the Jets to be like the Mets under Minaya.

Exactly. Carr is the perfect fit for this team. Now that coleman has moved on, replacing him with Buchanon is a great idea.

Braylon, Carr, Eric Smith, Brodney Pool, check in on Todd Heap and Zach Miller.

  7. With their ages, I would gladly take last year's team. Cro and Braylon back would be great. Those guys are still all younger than Aso and Moss.

If we can sign Aso most likely Cro will walk because he could make more elsewhere. Edwards will be able to entertain a lot of solid offers and if he takes more cash somewhere else, look for us to trade for a receiver (A.Johnson, Marshall, S.Smith) and take a flyer on (S.Moss,R.Moss)

We overplayed our hand a bit but it was worth the gamble...nothing really lost yet if we can get Edwards and Cro back. This team made it to within a game of the SB...Sanchez and Green will get better...LET'S GO...NO F'NG CRYING!

    Agreed.

People have to realize that just because we would be fielding a similar team to last year doesn't guarantee the same result...

Last year's team was stacked and I would have no problem of returning the same core, with added chemistry and a 3rd year Sanchez.

Yep. Holmes for 4 more games and an expected step up in performance for Sanchez and Greene could mean home playoff games. That could get us over the top.

CB Antonio Cromartie drawing interest from #Raiders, #49ers, & of course the #Jets. He wants money - likely off to the highest bidder.

Here we go again i fucking hate this agent what a douche!

What did the agent do wrong? Nnamdi chose the Eagles for the same money Dallas and New York were offering.

Honestly this site is a lot calmer than I thought it would be.

I don't think it's the agent in this case, it was Cro who came out and basically said he would sign with the highest bidder.

I think he signs elsewhere, other teams have more cash to offer if we bring back Braylon.

  17. More guys hitting their prime.

It may be a blessing in disguise. Aso would have likely meant Moss. Both have already hit 30.

Bringing back Cro and Braylon, or some other similar CBs and WRs, would leave room to upgrade other spots, like S or OLB, and also allow the team to remain young. It might decrease slightly the chance for a title this year, but it would keep the window for a title open for longer.

You hate an agent for doing his job and attempting to ensure his client receives the most money?

What would be the point of having an agent if you wanted to just blindly accept a random, cheap offer?

Cromartie has 8 kids to pay childsupport on, he needs every penny he can get, it;s not like he is going to have a lucrative post football career.

  20. As soon as the others drop out, that scumbag agent will make up a few teams.
