Its not the end of the world. We got moves to make and not a lot of time to make them before TC. We got played and hopefully learned something in the process. If a guy wants to play for your team, it doesn't take forever to make up your mind about it. That being said, lets go get a pass rusher, sign Edwards and hope to God that Kyle Wilson has finally learned to turn his head back towards the QB in man coverage every now and then.
I want answers wtf happened? everyone is kind of taking it in stride... how the hell did this go down?? where the fuck did the eagles come from? my concern is, how do we improve the team? it seems that our priorities will just be to bring back cro and edwards, the same team as last yr... granted we were four minutes from the superbowl, but w aso, the team wouldve been better. what now?
I hope he falters and those philly boo birds make the rest of his career an afterthought. Good riddance.
As I said in another thread, we got played and this is what it looks like. The Eagles probably were in this all along and let the Jets and other teams set the price.
wasted our time when our first priority @ CB in FA, if it was a priority should have been Joseph... now we get Cromartie back, MAYBE... not so well played...
Everyone's taking it in stride because by the end, everyone was exhausted and sick of the ridiculousness and craziness of the whole process that everyone was just glad it was over one way or another. No one knows where the Eagles come from, it was Jets or Cowboys all day and then all of a sudden he was going to the Eagles. And in my opinion, there's nothing wrong with having the same team as last year; if Sanchez and Greene make third-year leaps I think we'll be set.
Get real--once it became apparent that the Jets had a chance at Asomugha, they owed it to themselves to follow through and see if they could make a deal. Revis and Aso together would've made our defense positively elite. And Cromartie was never going to sign before the league saw what happened with Asomugha, so there would've been no purpose to pursuing him instead of the far superior player at his position. As I said a few times in the ridiculous waiting thread, the Jets were in the pleasant position of wanting Asomugha as a luxury, not needing him as a necessity. So we lost out on him, it sucks. Too bad. On the plus side, pursuing him opened up more cap space than any of us thought was possible 3 days ago. There are lots of players that we can pursue now that the big domino has fallen.
You're right, someone needs to call Tannenbaum and remind him that free agency is still happening, RIGHT NOW Tanny and Rex haven't let us down yet. Considering that Asomugha was a pipe dream until about 3 days ago, I'm fairly certain that they have a plan B.
Really - its apparent to anyone with 1/2 a brain we were used, we now currently have 3 corners on the roster, 2 of which if had to start along side Revis we'd be in a shit load of trouble - instead of pissing in our wishing cup, they should have made it a point to get better... Nnamdi was never going to sign here, for a multitude of reasons, the biggest being he would have to paid more than Revis. Anyone who believes any different was smoking the same shit our F/O was believing he would take less money... If you think this was good business, man would i love to do business with you! I don't care about Cromartie - Joseph was/is a better CB, and IF CB was a priority, which it apparently was, the focus should have been him PLUS the re-working of the contracts we did so they could sign additional players at the WR position, S position and DE etc...
Hey, going back to Holmes/Edwards/Cromartie isn't that bad. That is if we can resign Edwards and Cro.
How can you know that "Nnamdi was never going to sign here." That's revisionist history at it's finest--everything that we read or heard over the last few days suggested that the Jets were frontrunners for him. So the Eagles swooped in at the last second and outbid us. We lost, we'll take a shower, we'll have a drink, and we'll go get another player because that's life in the NFL. Asomugha isn't just the second best cornerback in football, he's one of the 5 best defensive players in the entire league. You're telling me that we shouldn't have even tried to sign him because we missed out on Jonathan fucking Joseph? Give me a break.
