The reports yesterday were $12 million. I doubt we can go much higher than that. Houston can go to $14-15 million. If this decision was purely about money to Aso it would probably be done already.
You're correct about that one. Colts (2x) @ Miami @ New Orleans vs Pittsburgh @ Baltimore @ Tampa Bay vs Atlanta Plus all the other games they have to show up for and compete. I can picture them splitting with Indy and beating Tampa Bay and Miami (Maybe). That still leaves them with 5 loses with 8 games to play. I just don't believe they'll make it out of the AFC anytime soon.
But isn't the point to improve last year's team and not just bring the same team back? However we might feel about this squad, they were not good enough to beat the Steelers.
Considering they beat the steelers last year before speaking would be a good idea. They weren't good enough to beat the steelers the day of the afccg but the talent was there. Also, getting aso does not guarantee this years team will be an improvement over last years. There will be a lot of roster spots to fill after this aso mess is figured out one way or the other.
Whats to say we weren't good enough? It wasn't Cromartie or Braylon's fault that we lost to the Steelers, we had a crappy first half Cromartie still had a pretty good season last year, it wasn't Nnamdi status but it was good enough aside of Revis, they complimented each other very well And I've said from the start we need Braylon back on this team, it's not too late to go out and get him back Were losing out on more quality players ... Nnamdi > Aso and Braylon? I don't think so
I think Aso's camp is just using the Texans to drive up the Jets offer. Maybe time to stop dancin' and call. Someone is likely to sneak in and steal Cro and BE while we're so intent on Aso. It would be nice to have him, but lets face it, we don't actually need him.
That is exactly the problem. If they deal with Aso too long, the other options will be gone. Edwards is being pursued by the Vikings now.
nfldraftupdate CB A.Cromartie waiting on N.Asomugha. Seems as though between #Jets & #Texans, whichever does not land Asomugha, will land Cromartie.
I was thinking about this. I think with the same team, we can still take it to the next level. We'd have Holmes for 4 more games, and I expect (I hope) Sanchez takes it to the next level by improving his decisions and completion percentage in the regular season. On the other hand, I like the idea of mixing it up and adding the undeniable dynamic that Aso brings to the table. I'm leaning in this direction.
I disagree. We beat the Steelers on the road during the regular season, we could've done it in the playoffs. For one reason or another the Jets didn't show up for the first half of the AFCCG, but that doesn't mean that they couldn't have won. Adding in the fact that our key players are by and large in their primes, while Pittsburgh's are just a little bit past theirs, I see no reason why we couldn't take the Steelers on next year. And in any case, the team to beat next year is neither the Steelers nor the Jets. As usual, it's the Patriots.
Well you forgot the rest of the moves.. picking up Kerley to be Smith's replacement, probably signing a veteran receiver like Moss, Burress (or maybe even bringing back Braylon), adding 2 big men on the defensive line with our first 2 picks. And it can't be overstated just how much having Aso would improve our defense by letting Rex basically play with an extra defender.
