None. It's not like Tannenbaum is sitting around just waiting on one player. He knows exactly what he's doing and who he wants. He has plan A, Plan B, Plan C all the way down to Plan Z. He wouldn't just lose out on a guy while sitting around and waiting. Plus nobody who would be on the Jets radar (Cro, Braylon, etc.) has even signed anywhere.

Based on all the crap we are hearing, I'd be surprised if this thing doesn't drag out for another day.

Agree. Once Nnamdi signs somewhere, everything else will start happening. He's the clog in the drain right now.

It sucks the Jets have to be sensitive about the way they handle these Aso negotiations because Revis and his agents are jerkoffs. If Aso gets one more dollar than him it will cause all sorts of shit next year.

I seriously doubt that Asomugha's decision would come down to income tax. If that's one of the reasons Lombardi's citing then I think it's obvious that Asomugha's trying to drive up our offer.

He may want to play in New York, but leaving 3-4 million on the table with no state taxes will be tough. How is his agent going to let him do that?

I don't think we're ACTUALLY hearing anything. Lombardi tweets, thousands of Texans fans (whose existence amazes me) retweet it, and all of a sudden it's news. Right now, the Jets are no less likely to sign Nnamdi than they were 16 hours ago.

This is a perfect example of how twitter is both a great news source and a really shitty news source.

That's a good point about the agent. You know the agent is spinning things to make the bigger offer sound better regardless of where it is. The more money Aso makes, the more the agent gets.

If Aso choose the Texans, I would be more than happy with any of these 3, Cro, Joseph or Rogers !
How much do you we could sign one of these for ?

Unless his agent also represents his endorsement deals, which he'll get a share of as well. I honestly don't see how he could choose the Jets all things considered. If it were between us and the Niners, then I'd say we have the edge, but Houston isn't a terrible team, and it's not that small of a market either.

Thinking about it logically, you'd have to think the Jets are probably offering a 3 or 4 year deal with 11-12 million per year on average and 25-30 million or so guaranteed depending on the years. With the endorsements, tv deals, setting himself up for a post-playing career, and all the other perks that come along with being a Jet these days, that's a pretty great offer for him to consider.

But if the Texans are really offering him something in the 15 million dollar a year range, maybe with extra years and more guarantees, it's hard to blame him for taking that. I mean sure he won't win, and casual observers still won't know who the hell he is, but it's hard to turn down a much more significant offer.

It really comes down to how much he wants to set himself up for his next career after football. If he's a Jet, he'll be famous and people will know how to pronounce his name. If he's a Texan, he could walk into most people's living rooms and they'll have no idea who the hell he is.

Houston does need a lot of help in their secondary.

Well, the Jets are in a great situation anyway, even though it would be a letdown not having Aso. We're going to sign some other big names if we don't get him.

What sorts of endorsements would he really get here in NYC and not in Houston? I know we're a much bigger market, but I'm not so sure that he'd necessarily get way more here than he would down south.
