If Santonio, who has already won a SuperBowl, turned down more $$ to stay with the Jets, then I don't see why Nnamdi, who hasn't won shit in Oak, won't take less money to come to a winning franchise.
12 million was more than I wanted Tanny to offer anyway. I say let the offer stick and if he goes elsewhere we sign Braylon + Cro/Joseph for around the 12-15 mil range.
I don't, but I do think that Nnamdi's agent is obviously going to use other teams to squeeze as much money out of the Jets as possible. I still think there's a huge chance that he goes for less money with the Jets.
obviously doesnt care about winning if he is going to houston have fun chasing down 3rd place for the rest of your career
I think if he goes to Houston, they do win (maybe not a sbowl, but they at least become a playoff team.) They've had a lot of potential the last couple of years, but haven't been able to put it together. A HUGE signing like ASO probably wins the game against us, and the other 2 they lost last year on or close to the last play.
is lombardi accurate ever i remember him saying we were cut ellis and thomas last year and that never happened
Agreed. A few months ago I thought there was a 2% chance that the Jets could land Aso...now it's 50/50. If he wants the big cash-grab, would Houston even be the best place? If he signs the larger contract with Houston, nobody will care, no big deal...player goes after more money but in a lesser situation...typical. If he signs with the Jets, though, his fame and popularity go through the roof. Revis/Aso commercials, his face in the papers and on ESPN every week, discussions of "best secondary in history", greater chance of a SB ring, etc. How much more could Houston possibly pay him to make it worth it in the long run?
Totally agree. Let's keep in mind that a couple of days ago we would be thrilled with the possibility of keeping Holmes and Braylon and no CB. Now it seems that the chance of getting Holmes + Braylon + Cro/Joseph is really there. If Aso agrees to Tanny's terms (in time and cash), ok. Otherwise I'm happy with the alternative.
Right? I'd rather have 10MM and live in NY than have 12, but live in Houston. And that's throwing out the fact that we're a much better team and would offer a much better chance to win a ring. Once you've got 100 mil to your name, why worry about 1 or 2 either way?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfWDQxQkvqE&feature He should watch this, cause thats what he's gonna see happen on the right side of the field, all game long.
Thats what it comes down to. If Nnamdi wants off the field money and wins, he comes here. If he wants an extra 2-3 million per year for his on field work, he goes to Houston. My guess is this is a last second ploy to try and get the Jets to up the offer, but we can't do so. Stand pat and let things happen as they may.
