Because there are good odds that we'll have to replace Braylon Edwards, Brad Smith, and Antonio Cromartie.

I'm not saying that the Jets are doomed (we're not, not by a long shot,) but there's a lot of work to be done.

You know they almost universally say one will come from the Jets. It's almost like they feel obligated to throw that bone to us, lest they be considered out of their minds.

You currently have gaping holes at WR, CB, and S, as well as depth issues at multiple positions. I am not predicting a "lesser" team... just saying that is the current state of things. LT slowed down a lot last year, and Shonn Greene didn't really pick up the slack... this is another area where I would be concerned.

We have more of our starters from last year signed than you guys. If you read ANY article related to team needs written prior to yesterday, the consensus is that Logan Mankins is BY FAR our biggest priority. He has already agreed to sign his franchise tender. Worst case scenario is that we actually have to pay that full amount. Our remaining concerns are small compared to yours... BJGE is expected to resign, and then there is really just M. Light.

Well, the biggest key is and always will be Sanchez. Any offseason losses should be offset by the continued maturation of our third year quarterback who played just one year in college.

We'll figure something out at safety. We have two guys in Leonhard and Lowery on the roster who can play there. At cornerback, we have Revis and our 1st round pick next year. We need one more guy who can start and one more depth guy. I don't see a gaping hole at receiver either. The Jets have Santonio Holmes and Jerricho Cotchery. Do they need a third receiver? Absolutely. But that's not a gaping hole. The Jets are just going from having some of the best receivers in the league to merely having a solid group.

sorry... I forgot that the point of this thread was to bitch about Pats fans without actually allowing any input from them. One sided arguments are always fun...

Thats a fair point, but I think you see what I am saying.

The Jets have a lot more moves to make in the near future than the Pats do simply because of the current state of their rosters.

Maybe "gaping" is the wrong word to use for WR. But compared to last year, you are looking at either a downgrade or a big free agent pickup.

Well you come in here and spew bullshit about the Jets massive holes and how the Pats are so complete.

Gaping hole at CB: Hmm, Revis and last years first rounder Wilson, plus a probable FA. How this is a weakness is beyond me.
WR: Holmes resigned, Cotchery, plus a probable FA
RB: LT, Greene, McKnight, rookie Powell

Plus the best offensive line in football and arguably the best overall defense in football. Only gaping hole I can think of is OLB

Where do you come up with this shit?

Only reason your team is so 'complete' is because of Tom Brady. You have a million young/rookie players. Congratulations.

But the passing game in general should be improved if Sanchez keeps developing. The Jets are going to make some more moves, their aggressive pursuit of Asomugha proves that.

... and back to the original point of the thread, I just wanted to clarify that not all Pats fans are conjuring up theories about dark magic that allowed the Jets to sign Holmes. As someone else posted, Robert Kraft was one of the most instrumental people in terms of negotiating, analyzing, and approving this agreement.

Goodell is just a puppet for the owners anyways. I don't believe that he has the balls or mental aptitude to do anything on his own.

I don't understand why some of my fellow Patsfans don't get it. If there's no cap it would seem logical that you can't have dead money.

Which reinforces the point that I originally made. That is what I meant when I said you guys have "work" to do.

I used the term complete to mean having starters signed with contracts... no need to get so offended.

K.W. is unproven. He played well in some certain roles late in the season, but struggled when he was forced to fill the starter's role early on. This is certainly ordinary for a rookie, but I still think it is early to assume he is ready for the #2 position, UNLESS your coaching staff is convinced that he is... neither one of us knows the answer to that.

LT and Shonn Greene COMBINED for 2 TD after your bye week last year. Their YPC stats were okay but not everwhelming. For a team that depends heavily on the run, I am surprised that none of you are concerned. McKnight and and your rookie are also 'unproven'... I shouldn't even have to defend that statement.

Even if you rely on Lowery at safety, you have no depth behind those two. Even if you rely on Wilson, you have no depth behind him at CB. Your depth at OLB is also questionable.

I wasn't blindly bashing your team. I was just pointing out that, I for one as a pats fan, am not yet running in terror just because you guys signed Holmes, and might have a little more cap room than we expected.

What i find interesting is that the Browns also cut 6 players (as many as us), maybe the Ryan brothers had a chat. It adds fuel to the fire but certainly would be logical considering how close they are.

that's an amazing critique of Sanchez from someone who presumably watches Brady fold like a lawn chair whenever somebody gets within a zip code of him.
