Per Manish: Lots of speculation about OLB Bryan Thomas' future with #Jets. I'm told that #NYJ plans to keep him on board. No salary reduction. ...fuck that.
Hopefully that means they figured something else out. Hopes of Aso AND Braylon are shot though, if there ever were any.
At this point whats our alternative ? Bringing back Jason Taylor as a full time starter? OLBs are expensive enough already, if (when) we sign aso were not gonna have shit to go out and get someone else
Breaston to the Chiefs, for all those that brought his name up as a BE replacement today. Per Schefter
this is one thing im starting to get tired of under rex. someone whos all about blitzing yet has no actual edge rushers. constant boners chasing CB's without putting a true stamp on the pass rush. Thomas has become a solid run stopper but to just let these guys milk every cent? its getting old fast.
I agree. The only argument against that is that if the Jets land NA, teams will run more. Thomas is more than solid against the run.
We're chasing CB's because it's the best option. If Tanny wants to get an edge rusher, he's going to have to trade for one.
You make it sound like there were pass rushers to be had over the last three seasons and Rex & Co. just disregarded them. Trust me... if it were Demarcus Ware available on the free agent market right now, we'd be all over it.
nobody is available man. give him credit. he has made our defense great with what we were able to get. nobody is going to give up a pass rusher via trade to us.
I really hope that Ellis and Wilkerson create the push needed inside that guys like Pace and Thomas can be effective rushers again. When Jenkins was healthy it seemed his presence alone helped the pass rush significantly. And it could be Rex is thinking the same thing.
Very good signing by the Chiefs. I was hoping to get him if Braylon walked. How many wr options do we have left? Worst case scenario right now is this Aso thing dragging, Braylon walking and us being left with just a shot at Cro and whatever #2 we can get our hands on.
Thats a name ive been saying for months, but I think hes going to command pretty mediocre money, and id have no idea what kind of dead money wed be left with by cutting BT
the best option in this specific free agency class. my point is aside from Pace's first year the best pass rusher we had was John Abraham. enough said. and the fact theyre willing to overpay OLB's
