We haven't won a super bowl, but just look at what Tanny has done for the Jets since 2006... D'Brickashaw Ferguson Nick Mangold Leon Washington Brad Smith: Eric Smith Darrelle Revis David Harris Dustin Keller Mark Sanchez Shonn Greene Dwight Lowery Matt Slauson Vladimir Ducasse Danny Woodhead John Conner I'm sure I've missed a few impact players, but has anyone drafted better than the Jets since 2006? Other than Vlad and Conner, all of these players are proven talents. Yes, we've lost some players here and there, but it's a guarantee that we're heading into 2011 with Ferguson, Mangold, Revis, Harris, Keller, Sanchez, Greene, Lowery, Slauson, Conner and Vlad. We've pretty much built our franchise through the draft. Thomas Jones Alan Faneca Brett Favre Kris Jenkins Ty Law Robert Turner Calvin Pace Tony Richardson Braylon Edwards Jim Leonhard Bart Scott Lito Sheppard Damien Woody Wayne Hunter Antonio Cromartie Santonio Holmes Brodney Pool LaDainian Tomlinson Jason Taylor Just look at all those big name players. Some All-Pro's, some future Hall of Famers and plenty of strong role players. Simply amazing. More importantly? We've been to the AFC Championship game the two previous seasons, and as of right now? We're a top 5 contenders out of the AFC if you ask me. This year we could have the best overall Jets team we've ever seen under the Tanny era, for the simple fact Sanchez is heading into his 3rd year as a veteran leader with plenty of playoff experience. Steelers Jets Ravens Patriots Chargers Is how I'd rank the AFC right now with teams such as the Texans and Chiefs ready to make a run.
If you have good pictures or praise for the man use this thread : http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=47937
He is the George Steinbrenner of the NY Jets. Back in the day, George would kick ass from day one of Free Agency and always get his man, sometimes numerous guys. Now I know Tee's a Gm, and not an ass like George was back in the day, but being a Yankee fan back then was like XMAS, and this week as a Jet fan, feels like the same. Wonder what's gonna be under the tree on Thursday and the Friday?
And some national media compare us to the Redskins because we love to sign Free agents. Look at that list of draft choices, the heart of the team. Great balance between the two. Incredible
I agree with you 100%. Daniel Snyder and Redskins spend, just to spend. Tanny and the Jets spend for one reason and one reason only... To compete. I can't wait until we can update that list, because I have a strong feeling both Aso and Moss are coming to the Jets.
jesus h christ, i was going to make fun of everyone because of the obvious boner time on the board the last 2 days but you guys are talking about having unending boners and ejaculations all over the place. there must be a cherem for tannenbaum.
Ok... Lets not get my hopes up. I can understand Holmes and Braylon, or better yet Holmes and Aso. But Holmes, Aso and Edwards? Not possible. I hope they prove me wrong though but yeah, lets not get our hopes up. I haven't heard of anyone talking Holmes, Edwards AND Aso.
The guy deserves a lot of respect. He has the vision to turn Jets into a dyansty. What I most like about him is he gets the job done and still keeps a low profile. Way to go Tanny
Replace "Tony Stark" with "Mike Tannenbaum" and I think this scene describes Trader Mike perfectly.
Remember that time when the NFL was like "since there's no salary cap, let's make a rule so that the final four teams can't do much in the offseason, in order to maintain competitive parity," and then Mike T was like, "that's a cool rule, but I'm going to get Santonio Holmes, LaDanian Tomlinson, Jason Taylor, Nick Folk, Antonio Cromartie, and Brodney Pool anyway?" I think that was the year before the NFL set the new cap at $120 mil and the Jets were over the limit, but Mike T was like, "that's a cool rule, but I'm going to resign the #2 FA on the market and still have enough cap space left over to make a major serious run at the #1 FA on the market anyway."
Thanks Mike, Glad you played this hand, too bad it did not pay out. Now go get a god damn snack and fill out the roster that's going to win the superbowl. $$$
