Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. In other news: Asomugha may team with Revis in Jets secondary By BRIAN COSTELLO Last Updated: 7:56 AM, July 27, 2011 Posted: 1:45 AM, July 27, 2011 http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/jets/asomugha_may_team_with_revis_jSjnX8ab0NJvcW42ORnazH
Looks like the Lions are out of the running and the Texans will have to rework every contract to create cap space.
If it's simply between the Jets and the 49ers, I can most certainly envision Asomugha leaving money on the table. The 49ers are going nowhere. They have no clear QB situation, their coach has had an up-and-down tenure as of yet, they've bungled a few draft picks, and Asomugha would be constantly exposed when the front seven gives the opposing QB too much time (a la Nate Clements). If it's true that the Texans can't make a comparable offer, and the Eagles are adding DRC, there's no doubt that the Jets are Asomugha's best option.
Question: Let's say Aso joins the Jets at a reduced salary compared to his Raiders contract. Will/should Revis then restructure his deal to make him "just barely the highest paid cornerback in the league"?
If Nnamdi goes to the 49ers , he's a complete idiot. The jets are 10 times better and have a better chance of makin the playoffs, only thing the 49ers have on the jets is Frank Gore
this. i don't see the appeal. brand new coaching staff. unsettled QB situation. just stay with the raiders at that point.
I'm starting to see less and less appeal for any team but the Jets for Nnamdi. The only weird thing I could see is the Eagles sneaking in a big offer for him. How's their cap situation?
Is there any chance this gets done today? I'm sitting here in anticipation when I should probably go about my business until tomorrow.
unless some team blows aso out of the water with 18-20 per year, I think he'll be a Jet. i still wouldn't rule that possibility out though.
haha Im with you dude.....theres definitely a chance.....I hitnk the longer it goes, the worse for the Jets at this point
i doubt the niners have a real shot. the only selling point other than money that they have is he doesnt have to relocate since its still the bay area. the cowboys apparently are also trying to get involved. once again way less of a chance to win than we have. bottom line is if this guy is serious about winning, then he will be a new york jet. now lets hope sanchez and revis restructure so we can get edwards back too
