Based on the publicly available information, I don't buy it. If the Jets haven't even approached Sanchez about restructuring yet, they're not in nearly as much hot water as the media is trying to proclaim. Tannenbaum and Nissim have a much more intimate knowledge of (a) the cap rules and (b) the Jets' ability to tuck Asomugha under the current cap than a lot of these clowns trying to report on the situation.
That is absolutely true. The draft did more to help the pass rush, and signing Asomugha would do more to help it, than any addition of an OLB would. That said, the money being even, cutting Thomas and signing Barnes makes sense.
I've seen some incredible rationalization in my time on this interweb thingamajigy, but that may be the best I have ever seen. That Pats fan wins 1,000 internets for his insight.
It makes sense though. How can one CB cover all of those beasts at once? Especially with the stench of Al Davis on him?
I don't care if Al Davis took a geriatric diarrhea shart on Nnamdi, I'd love to have him in a Jets uni. We can install some of those tree air fresheners on the sideline.
I really think the Patriots formation of Gronkowski, Welker, Tate, Hernandez, Edelman, Woodhead, Jarvus Green Ellis, Brady and 3 lineman would work. Of course they could substitute another lineman or 2 and really make this an unstoppable unit.......... 19-0 baby.
I like this gem from the Pats forum: "whats this talk about the jets getting the two best CBs in the nfl? I didnt hear anything about them getting McCourty."
