    From Cimini also:

Sources are telling me that the Jets remain very interested in former Raiders CB Nnamdi Asomugha, the jewel of the free-agent class. They'd have to open the bank vault for Asomugha, but GM Mike Tannenbaum and his staff have figured out a way to make it work, I'm told.

It probably means losing WR Braylon Edwards and WR Brad Smith. Obviously, they'd let CB Antonio Cromartie walk. QB Mark Sanchez could restructure his contract to save cap room, and maybe CB Darrelle Revis, too. They'd also try to sign LB David Harris to a long-term deal, lowering his $10.4 million cap number.

If the Jets landed Asomugha, they'd have almost 20 percent of their payroll tied up in one position, with him and Revis. That is a dangerous way to go about your business, but it also would give the Jets the best cornerback tandem in the NFL.

If the Jets aren't sacrificing 4 years from now, then this is fine.

Aso can't want 9 mil a year like he's fuckin nate clements. He needs to take a smaller number.

Damn, I'd rather see Braylon resigned than having to "open the bank vault" and put 20% of the payroll in 1 position.

With revis, we could get away with a couple of 2nd or 3rd tier guys at corner.

Braylon was pretty clutch last year and his drops are almost nonexistent.

Jets main competition for Asomuga right now are the 49ers, they are in it strong...will be interesting to see how it plays out...

I"m cautiously optimistic about this either way. I'm supremely confident in the team with or without him, but it sure would feel good to look at our secondary and see Revis and Aso.

The only reason this would make sense is because he probably wouldn't have to move. If he cares about winning at all he won't go to the 9'ers.

Thought Aso wanted to play for a contender. The fucking 49ers couldnt even beat out the Rams and Seahawks, that organization is a complete joke

Asomugha could want to stay in California, but the Niners are still rebuilding - if he wants to win, he'll come to New York.
