How is it nothing special? A majority of NFL players would say "Fuck off" if asked to do what, Mark is. Give me a break man. Watch how many people bitch, when Revis refuses to do it.
It's not SOJF. But don't throw a freaking parade for Sanchez because he restructured. It's the same amount of money either way and this actually increases his job security. His contract was always going to be restructured between the 2nd and 3rd year the cap number was way too high. It's not like he took a pay cut.
You don't get it. His salary isn't being reduced $1. All they are going to do is convert his salary into a bonus so that the cap hit is spread out over the life of the deal. Unless the Jets add years to his contract, the restructuring means absolutely nothing to the amount of money Sanchez will get.
Its about cap room. That's why its a big deal. We know he's not losing money, but he's allowing his offense to remain intact. That's not something to shrug at. The team you root for isn't going to be dormant during the FA period thanks to your QB.
Yes, we get that. But you do realize its a good thing that the Jets went from being 8 mil under to maybe 12 or 13? That's why we cheer this move. Holmes or Braylon or both are returning.
Per Manish: #Jets braintrust (front office and coaching staff) reached out to Antonio Cromartie today to let them know that they want him back. ...please don't overpay this guy.
The point is Sanchez didn't make a sacrifice here and in fact would have been a dick if he didn't do it.
Is there any chance we could go after Plaxico for a 1 year deal to replace Santonio if he decides to go elsewhere?
Rumors of Antonio Cromartie to Oakland. That would be neat trick, considering Raiders are $10M over cap, according to Prof. Clayton. #Jets
The Raiders are at 103 plus 26 in dead money. Since the cap with exceptions is really about 126, and since dead money apparently doesn't count, they're actually about 23 UNDER the cap. The dead money issue helps the Jets but it really helps the Raiders.
The money isn't changing. It's not like he's getting money that he's due in 2014 this year. They would take the majority of his salary this year and turn into a bonus. Does getting the money in August versus September-December really make that big of a difference?
The Raiders are an up and coming team in a division that is pretty open. It would be a good landing spot for Cro.
Yes and with the restructure he will probably get all or most of that money now instead of getting it in salary this season.
It's absolutely a good thing. Converting salary to bonus is something that every team does for cap purposes. It means practically nothing to the player other then making it more difficult to cut them in future years. The large salary in 2011 for Sanchez was always going to change one way or the other.
restruchize..... Anyway its an obvious cap move which suits both parties...just a note we have til 4th Aug to get under cap so we can sign who we want and restructure later to a certain extent Cromartie surprises me but Rex loves him which beats my football knowledge hands down!!
