Nah, I am pretty sure they can just give him a pay cut.. pretty much what happened to Kellen Clemens last year. Just tell him here's what we can pay you this year, take it or leave it.. and he knows this is his best shot to get a ring and that he won't get a whole lot of interest on the market. He'll take it.

Word, that all makes sense. Woody should be a minimum player at this point considering his age and injury. If it came down to using the exception on either LT or Ellis I'd have to go with Ellis. If we have great OL play then whoever's running the ball is gonna be successful and LT def. slowed down last year.

The Cowboys could be players for Nnamdi Asomugha as well and I think I heard they have money to spend.

If by 14 over cap, then sure they have the money to spend...

I was gonna say that but lots o places had the jets over the cap when they really aren't. Are the cowboys legitimately that far over the cap?

Who really knows at this point? I'd think we have more room to spare, but im not even sure we are interested.

Why the fuck is this day going so slow?

Didn't they say the Jets are like 1.2 million over with dead money counting?

Yeah, now with dead money not counting they are probably 6 or 7 million under before you count the exemptions and restructuring that will go on.

I think that they're in cap trouble, but they have a clear path out of it (I haven't looked at the numbers, but cutting Terrance Newman and Marion Barber should put them on the right track.)

I don't think they can match the Ravens, Bucs, Texans or maybe even the Jets offer for Asomugha but they aren't completely screwed. They could probably afford to go after Joseph at least.

Speaking of Joseph, is there any chance that the Jets target him assuming Cromartie walks? He's certain to come cheaper than Aso or Cro, and he's a very good player.

We need to take actors and directors who are Jets fans with Rex to Aso's house and tell him that they wont leave until he signs with us.

Monmouth OL Tom Ottaiano is also headed to Jets as UDFA, per person with knowledge. #nyj

He would cost the same as Cro I think and in that scenario I'm sure the Jets would rather just have the guy they dealt a second rounder for.

I'm sure that all things being equal the Jets would rather have Cromartie, but I suspect that he'll end up being more expensive than Joseph.

There's always going to be a Dan Snyder / Al Davis type out there who will overpay for athleticism.
