Manish Mehta just said he doesn't think dead money will carry into the 2011 season...but he isnt 100% sure.
If dead money does not carry over, that would be huge for the Jets. It would make keeping both WRs and landing NA actually realistic, with some other moves.
Yep. swifty1021 – 07/25/2011 04:02:41 pm Please tell me this is rumor is not from Incarcerated Bob, I think Brad Smith and Cro are gone, but Eric Smith I don't see. Petrozza – 07/25/2011 04:05:21 pm Yeah, that's where the rumor came from. As for Eric Smith, I don't think that losing him is a such a big loss. He's a pretty average player, definitely not a starting safety material
It doesn't really seem to be in our best interest to announce that we're not re-signing Cro. I mean, it gives us more leverage to make it seem as if we could re-sign Cro if we plan on going after Aso (or any player for that matter).
Even if the homepage was actually a real rumor, it's a RUMOR so why would the title say "Jets to let ---- leave" like it's a done deal?
E. Smith can hit, but the way the rules are now, hitting is becoming obsolete. That is especially true with this new CBA.
Don't question Petro, just click the ads. (I agree though - it's worded the wrong way. ...most definitely not a done deal)
I'm not very knowledgeable of the cap, but I just don't see how we could sign Holmes, Braylon and Aso. Hell, 2 of the 3 would be a stretch. But there are so many things I don't understand regarding the new CBA, who knows.
Well, if dead money did not carry over, and the Jets managed to lock up Harris to a backloaded, more cap-friendly deal, as well as restructuring with Sanchez, AND defer from next year's cap, it would be financially possible. There wouldn't be much flexibility left, but at that point, would you need much?
