my bad. sadly, there are no other fast black guys in the NFL. Holmes is the only one. you cant act like either player is unique, but you can argue the value of an big strong blocking wr who knows our system and our runners over a fast guy.
That's better. ...but, most of the fast, black guys in the NFL don't have the vision and play-making ability that Holmes has. Those two things can't be coached, you're born with it - some would say it's "god given". Some of you guys are severely underrating this Holmes' talent. Would I rather keep Edwards and go in a different direction? Yes, but Holmes is the best free agent wideout available. I feel like Edwards wants to be here for the right reasons and Holmes is just ready to cash in. When Holmes signs a big deal, it will be because he deserves it.
I'm telling you, we can find a future Braylon Edwards in the draft next year. Jeff Fuller is a name to keep an eye on.
I'm telling you: that's not going to happen...not when we're constantly picking in the late twenties, hopefully early thirties. With improved quarterback play, this guy will tear this league apart. It's very hard for corners to match up on a guy with his size/strength. He's a big time talent that's done nothing but work hard since we traded fr him.
I've been a huge Braylon Edwards supporter since the day we traded for him. I was even a proponent to the idea of trading for him before then. So it's not like I don't appreciate what he's done for this team. I just feel like Holmes is the more valuable quantity.
Looks like it. Jeff Fuller will most likely be off the board when we pick. I can see guys like Alshon Jeffery and Justin Blackmon going in the top ten, easily. If Fuller puts up big numbers, he'll be right there with these two. Michael Floyd is a more realistic option, but Edwards is a proven commodity.
Holmes is the better, more gifted player...no doubt about it. Braylon Edwards will cost less and that might allow us to do more. I want to keep both of them, so we'll see what happens over the next few weeks...

The NFL draft is not the NBA draft. Great players are available throughout. Hakeem Nicks and Kenny Britt were picked 28th and 29th respectively. Mohamed Massaquoi went 50th. Mike Wallace went 84th. Austin Collie went 127th. That's from the 2009 draft alone. Hell, Santonio Holmes went 25th, a spot we could easily move up to if we saw a guy we liked.
If Michael Floyd stays healthy for a change I could actually see him going higher than Fuller but I agree that of the two Floyd is more likely to be on the board. Who knows though, if we've actually got all our draft picks for a change we might even think about trading up for a receiver. The one downside I find to the idea of keeping both Holmes and Edwards is that they're both much older than Sanchez. If we keep both eventually they're going to be over 30 years of age while Sanchez will be in his mid-twenties. So are we then going to spend a high draft pick on a receiver and train him for 2-3 years so that he'll be on the same experience level that Holmes and Edwards are at right now? Perhaps doing what the Falcons are doing with Roddy White in his prime and Julio Jones just entering the league might pay bigger dividends in the future.
Holmes is better. Braylon isn't necessarily replaceable, but he isn't as valuable as Holmes. Like E said, Braylon allows the Jets to have more flexibility with personnel.
