The Jets Front office and coaches are always looking for ways to get better. They are creative, energetic and open to almost anything to make us better, looking for any little thing that could make a difference. Geez, how lucky are we to have this group of people leading our team. And from the owner on down, they are not old or burnt out from years in the NFL like Tuna so we should have these people for years . Once we get one Championship, they will come in bunches. Now lets get the key guys signed this year so the train keeps on rolling

If we'd have had him, the last two years...we'd have won the last two games and been talking 3peat.

Rex Ryan + Tom Moore (even as consultant) + Mike T = VLT.

Why not fire Schotty and have Tom Moore coach the offense? I have a million times more confidence in Moore than Schotty.

Because that's more of a workload than Moore wants.

He doesn't even have to be in the same state as the Jets to be a consultant...

I get Moore is 72, going on 73. But he clearly still wants to be involved with football, and if that is the case, they should have at least asked (which I am sure they never did).

Besides, Moore game-planning one day a week and coming in on Sunday's to call a game is a million times better than Schotty game-planning and working for 6 days and coaching on Sunday's.

I'm pretty sure that point was rendered moot in 2009 when he RETIRED AS A COACH.

He's 73 years old, still gets to be involved in football but only has to watch game film and occasionally tell Schottenhemiemer when/why he's doing something stupid. For the money he's likely being offered, I'd rather take the consulting job than have to come in and coach a team/players for a full season at his age.

So the Jets hired coaches before the CBA got approved and the lockout ended? I'm confused, I thought teams weren't able to do anything at this point.

To say Schottenheimer had his good times and bad times is one thing. To call him ONE OF THE BEST IN THE LEAGUE is quite another. He is not, no matter how you slice it. He is just the middle-of-the-line, slightly-above-average offensive coordinator who loves to get cute and fuck things up beyond repair at times.

Moore doesn't want it. He specifically said "I am not up for this kind of workload any more." in the past, which is why he walked away from his job in Indy in the first place.

He's far from perfect but we are lucky to have him. Just b/c a certain play doesn't work doesn't mean it was the playcall. He does get too cute at times which I hate but that is my only problem w/ him. Overall he calls good games.

Like... giving his QB about 15 seconds to work on almost every offensive play constitutes as a 'good OC' to you, junc? You need higher standard for your OC than that. It's not just about plays (as one NFL player put it, nearly all plays are good plays) but the way he [forces] the offense to play. I specifically mentioned how the lack of time on the shot clock debilitated the Jets run game last year some time - now, coupled with lack of imagination along the run plays, it literally killed the Jets run game in crucial moments. (I even mentioned how some of the 'stuffed' pattern went in the past postings.)

This habit wasn't fixed even during AFCCG ver 2.0 this year. This is NOT all the problem, of course, but if this doesn't get solved, Jets offense will keep being mediocre even with all the talents they have in their line up. Is this one criteria for a good OC? Absolutely. Watch how New England or Indianapolis offense conducts itself. I am not saying they always line up with 20+ seconds on the clock; they do get under time pressure at times. But are they in a hurry to snap the ball ALL THE FUCKING TIME? LIKE SANCHEZ??? That is a solid NO.

The Jets O was good last year and will continue to get better as the QB gets better and better. he has developed a young, franchise QB who had 16 career starts in college and while doing so has helped us reach back to back title games. NE and Indianapolis have veteran HOF QBs running their offenses, you think that could be just a small reason why their O's look so much better? But how did those offenses w/ thsoe great QBs fare against us in the playoffs?

I didn't say Tom Brady offense. I said New England offense. Watch how that bum Matt Cassel was playing when Brady went out with knee injury. See if you find him under time pressure. Beep me back after that.
