Wow. First spell Namdi right, then you say we let two of our guys go for someone whos going to cost more than Cro and Edwards combined, then realize that bc we are a defensive team and have Rex, we dont need to pay a guy 18 million to take out a teams number two WR. We dont need cromartie to be a top five defense, let alone Namdi

Ghandi would cost way too much to be a #2 cornerback.

Anybody but Lito Shepard. No F'ing way is that guy gonna be on this team. You guys seem to feel confident we can replace Cro, I hope you are right because the # 2 CB was a key component to our pass defense last year, especially, with out crappy pass rush

Clayton is reporting the Jets are $1.2M over the cap

This basically means he thinks dead money counts, and all the "keep the WRs" talk becomes pretty unrealistic. After restructuring, there's just not enough to keep em both and still sign a real rest of the roster.

Once we restructure some deals and resign Harris to a long-term deal, we can potentially be under the cap and be able to resign the WRs and some of our depth players (Pool, Ellis, E. Smith)

Knowing Tanny he already knows the deal and has a plan / various contract offers to get these guys back

The FO just didn't sit at home and scratch their balls all day, Tanny has something ready despite the smaller cap-space

If Clayton's numbers are right, Tomlinson might get the ax.

I'm sure they do have something ready, but I think that something is probably going to involve letting either Edwards or Holmes go.

Signing Harris to a long term deal could save $4.75M off the cap. Restructuring Sanchez saves another $7.5M or so. Leonhard and DeVito can be redone to save another $1.8M, and Byron Thomas can be released outright to save $3.7M more.

That gives us $16.8M in cap room to work with. With that $16.8M, they need to do the following:

    1. Sign the rookies.
    2. Save enough for players to be signed mid-season due to injury, etc... (Usually around $2M).
    3. Replace the following 12 players: Bryan Thomas, Folk, Weatherford, Ellis, Brodney Pool, Tony Richardson, Wayne Hunter, Eric Smith, Brad Smith, Drew Coleman, James Ihedigbo and Kellen Clemens.
    4. Sign whoever of Holmes, Edwards, Cromartie we want, and replace them otherwise.

Once we do 1 and 2, we're really looking at $12.3M in cap room with the giant task that is #3 still not accomplished. Many of those guys are cheap, but when you have as little wiggle room as we do, the difference between cheap and free is a real one.

Now I assume Mr. Electric is right and Tomlinson will either be cut, or have his salary lowered. That's another $3.1M we can potentially play with, but even then, it just doesn't seem to be possible to sign Holmes and Braylon.

I'm sure the FO knows all of this 1000 times better than I do, but that doesn't mean they can do anything about it other than having a plan for how to spend that money.

Cutting Bryan Thomas should be one of Tannenbaum's first moves.

It'd be nice if guys like Bart Scott and Calvin Pace could restructure too.

If we're able to bring in someone like Dawan Landry, cutting Jimmy Leonhard might be a smart move.

It won't be tough signing the late rounders. With the new rookie wage scale, Wilkerson's deal shouldn't be hard to figure out either.

If we lose anyone because of injury, we'll just promote guys from the practice squad.

Nick Folk isn't going anywhere, but if he does, his replacement is already on the roster: Nick Novak

    John Conner will replace T-Rich.

Kellen Clemens will be replaced by Greg McElroy.

Drew Coleman and Eric Smith should be re-signed. Our defensive backfield could have quite a few new faces in 2011 though.

Jamaal Westerman and an inexpensive vet can fill Bryan Thomas' spot. ...waste of money.

    Punters are inexpensive.

Someone that's already on the roster will replace Brad Smith. ...probably Jeremy Kerley.

Antonio Cromartie is not worth what he'll get. This team already has a #1 corner, so we don't need that kind of money invested into one position.

The way Bart talks of Rex, I think you can probably count on him restructuring his contract.

Even without a rookie scale, the #30 pick doesn't get a contract larger than like 5 years 13 mil no?
