We won last year in spite of Rex Ryan's defensive schemes. Got it. Enjoy that half-empty glass of bleach you've been drinking.
We won last year because we had 2 Cb's that could cover. You want to roll the dice and put Wilson opposite Revis ? I would rather not. Cheers!!!
I just cancelled my NFL Sunday Ticket package. Fuck this team! If we can't win without three #1 corners, then what's the point? Cheers!!!
What the hell happened in 2009 then? Once again, the Jets went to the AFC Championship game with Lito Sheppard, Dwight Lowery, and Drew Coleman platooning at corner.
We apparently caught all the teams off guard! They didn't figure out until the 2nd half of the AFCCG that they could throw NOT at Revis! edit: Oh, and Rex Ryan apparently is just lucky he has two #1 Cb's and is a shitty defensive coach.
I actually don't see where in the article it says that they're not paid immediately. (If the option year is reached). I may be missing something though - can you point me to where it says how the money is actually paid out?
Glad you are having fun at my expense. I stand by everything I said. If we lose all 3 players we are not a Super Bowl contender. And our blitz packages were less effective in 2010 since teams became more familiar with what we are doing. Thanks to Mr. T replacing Lito with Cro and getting Brodney, we were able to matchup well against high powered offenses. And the only reason I mentioned the possibility of losing so many players is the condensed FA period and the minimum cap requirement for each team. I was hoping the 3 players right of first refusal rule would be part of the agreement but the players squashed it.
Every team will be under the same set of rules. Tanny is probably already formulated a plan of attack and is just waiting for the green light.
By the way, blitz packages change every year with personnel, it seems you're under the impression that Rex Ryan trots out the same defensive packages every year. Edit: Why the hell would we ever lose all three people...you said we NEED all three...if we lose Cro I'm sure Rex can manage...look at what he did with the Raven's D in '08 when Rolle got injured and he had to make due with Fabian Washington and Frank Walker...
Every team does has FA's but not all of them have as many that play such an important roll . The Giants have Bradshaw, that's there big one. And for the record, I can live with getting Holmes and Cro and not siging Edwards. I acutally think Brodney Poole is more important to us if we retain Holmes. And no kidding, Rex, changes things every week, not every year. You can only do so much, it still comes down to skills, Cro has it, Lowery does not. Wilson, looks good but who knows. I have total confidence in Mr. T. Maybe he's gonna go after Sidney Rice and bag Holmes and Edwards and use the extra $ on something else. Its gonna be wild, just nuts
You're trying to say Brodney POOL is more important than Braylon Edwards? Hah, okay. And it comes down to skills? So...2009 was a fluke year having the #1 Defense with LITO FUCKING SHEPPARD as the #2, because apparently Rex Ryan brought a whole new innovative system into the league that year, and not the same base system (and even a few KEY players) with him? Great solid logic you got there man.
Boy, when it comes to defense, if you were the GM it would be just plug in anyone? It has nothing to do with talent, its all smoke and mirrors. And stop with the # 1 defense crap, its just numbers. We had a very good defense the last 2 years, we were not the 85 Bears. We need more play makers and we are extremely thin at saftey and depth is an issue in the entire secondary. We have 5 free agents in the secondary and remember, Lehonard is coming off a broken leg. We don't need no stinkin players, maybe we should go to 7-11 and sign some landscapers to play, Rex will coach them up, its not about talent. Thankfully, Mr. T is our GM, not little boys Cromartie Pool Smith Coleman Ihedgbho
If option bonuses were paid out immediately, there'd be no risk to the player. At all. But the "option" in "option bonus" belongs to the team. Grbac opted for the option bonus when he signed in March 2001, but when the Ravens decided he wasn't worth it a year later, they decided to cut him instead of exercising the option.
If I was the GM, I might spend consecutive first round picks on the defense. But that's because I'm stupid. I've got this ass-backwards idea that good teams build through the draft.
First off, if we re-sign Eric Smith AND Ihedgbho I think we are making a mistake. Second off, I am all for signing Cromartie, but before you were making it sound like if we lost Cromartie it would be the end of the world as if we weren't in a good position before-hand, and if Rex Ryan doesn't have the ability to gameplan around the loss of Cro. And I REALLY can't get over the fact that you said "offenses figured the D out" as if Rex hasn't been running the same base package for 5+ years. Just wow...
