In the event Braylon signs elsewhere...

?

Which of these FA WRs would you most want the Jets to take a chance on?

  1. Plaxico Burress

    27.1%
  2. Randy Moss

    27.1%
  3. Chad Ochocinco

    15.3%
  4. None - Have Cotchery be the #2/Sign a cheaper veteran WR

    30.6%

To me, Santonio and Braylon is the perfect WR combo for this team, they compliment each other so well and are both young and explosive. However, with so many teams expected to have a lot of cap space, it's certainly a possibility one will sign elsewhere. If Braylon does go to another team, be it the Redskins, Bears, Bucs, or someone else, and the Jets resign Santonio, which of the above FA WRs would you most want the Jets to sign, if any? I have them resigning Santonio and pairing him with one of the above in this situation because all 3 WRs in the poll are big guys like Braylon that compliment Santonio's speed. If it was Santonio who signed elsewhere, I could see us trading a midrounder for Steve Smith to replace Santonio's speed and pair that with Braylon's size. Either way, all 3 people above seem to be guys Tannenbaum would be interested, based on his precedent, and I personally wouldn't be worried about Rex's ability to keep any of them in line. As I said, though, hopefully we can keep Brantonio together.

I feel like I am listening to one of those speed readers at the end of an advertisement giving you the details on some special offer.

I would've voted Plax, but i'm not sure how well he'll fare after such a long layoff from the league.

Ocho Cinco and Moss can go fuck a duck.

There was a pretty good article about Moss the other day somewhere about how he is going to be back to the "old/great Moss" again.

The fact that Moss plays when he wants to play, is reason enough to stay away from that guy at all costs.

Moss is not a Rex Ryan guy, period. Rex doesn't coach effort.

And the thought of Moss in a Jets uniform ass-grabbing Brady in the post-game field crowd makes me wanna puke.

We need to understand that Moss is done.

A vertical threat like him is not what this offense needs. It needs an underneath WR. Hopefully Kerley steps into that role.

As for the #1 WR, if the Jets can't resign one of their 2 guys, then they might as well look at the other primer WRs that are FAs as well. Rice, Jackson... I'd even take Sims-Walker. Sanchez is better than Gerrard, they'll work well together.

I voted for Moss, although none of those choices are very appealing.

Moss is done....because his attitude/ego outweigh his passion for the game.

The guy is a phenomenal athlete, and can still play. But he'd rather bitch about the food than help his team win games.

    Fuck him.

Oh yeah I forgot about him bitching about the food. Fuck that, he'll never get along with Rex!

I would sign Moss on the cheap, resign Edwards, and trade a 4th or 5th for Steve Smith.....

100% agree on Sims-Walker, who is a great red zone target.

Sidney Rice would be nice too. Steve Smith?

Though with this whole salary cap trouble, the Jets are going to have to cut and restructure contracts before they can sign people.

Burress has been, and will remain a serious threat until he can't jump any more. It doesn't even matter if he can't out run you, he just goes up and comes down with the ball. I don't see how jail is going to have changed how he runs routes or his technique. Will he have some shortcomings because he isn't in football shape ? sure...for about 8 or 10 weeks. Playoff time he'll be in full stride....

He's a better gamble in my eyes than Ocho who hsn't done shit in 3 years, or Moss who's.....well, Moss.

I'd rather snatch up Steve Smith though.

I hope you guys aren't pining for Steve Smith from the Giants....Curtis Martin's knees are in better shape than his.

Steve Smith from the Panthers.....now you're talkin'. He's a Rex Ryan guy in the making.

Fuck those three turds! I want a receiver who is a football player. Not a slouch, a dumbass convict, or a self-proclaimed celebrity.

I never actually cared enough to know, but did Plax shooting himself injure his leg in a severe manner?

Meaning something that he'll deal with the rest of his life?

Holmes and Burress is the best combo. Burress is one of the best receivers in the redzone and that's where Sanchez struggled the most.

that's a good question. i mean, i'm sure something would've come out by now if it were the case, but its not outside the realm of possibility.

on topic, ocho i would prefer over moss and plexi... but only for the lulz. seriously use cotch, and hopefully one of the young ins we got can step up.

Did some searching and we only scored TD 20 times in 50 red zone trips which is the 30th in the league. We need Burress because he knows how to get it done, Sanchez also must improve because he threw 47% completion rate in the red zone. Burress will draw a corner and a safety which should open it up for Keller, Holmes, and Cotch.
