Braylon > Holmes If he goes I wont shed a tear, besides if we have the opportunity to get Steve Smith (Carolina) I would rather have him personally.
I hope you're not referring to Steve Smith (Giants).....his knees are shot. He's gone on record saying that he has to play differently now because of the injury. That's never a good sign.
Holmes is the Jets #1 priority. That being said, the Redskins could easily come out and offer him something ridiculous that the Jets just either can't match, or don't want to match. We have our hands full resigning our own guys, so I suspect that the Jets will offer Santonio something reasonable based on his skills, but if the skins are willing to overpay, I wouldn't be surprised if the Jets just let him go.
Steve Smith (carolina) > Santana Santana > Steve Smith (Giants) I HATED it when we lost Santana, sad sad day I would love to see him in Gotham green once more. I wouldn't be opposed to renting T.O. for a season honestly. Between Braylon, J Cotch, T.O. I think they could handle things.
TO is probably not even going to play this year b/c of his knee injury. I think Moss is motivated and will have a good year wherever he plays but I'd like Plax to replace Braylon if we lost Braylon.
He's got a bit left in that tank and he's HUNGRY to play for a winner... The Jets love grabbing guys with a chip on their shoulder and Steve Smith can be a steal to replace Holmes!!!!! I've been saying this all offseason.
T.O. has done nothing but fuck with his QB's psyche his whole career. I don't want him anywhere near the Sanchize. I wouldn't be opposed to Moss or Steve Smith but I don't like renting players. It'd be nice if we could just have our 2 reliable wrs in Braylon and Cotch and Kerley comes on nicely as a rookie. Don't forget about Keller too. We should be fine on offense no need to overpay anyone.
I don't think Holmes or Edwards will be overpaid. The WR market has enough big names in it this year to keep salaries competitive.
i think this is wishful thinking. I agree your point is accurate. that being said I expect a fucking bloodbath free for all on FA signings due to the peculiar nature of this lockout and I still will believe the whispers of Holmes going for big money over a bs quote about him loving NY. no more than 8 mil a year for either WR IMO. thats just me though I think Holmes gets 10+ somewhere. hopefully we can get braylon for 7.5 and incentives.
Braylon is more important for Sanchez than Santonio. Tone makes the big play but I like having Braylon's size.
Looking like 120 is going to be the number. Jets could keep all the big names or at least both wrs at that number.
Your reasoning being? That's lower than the cap was in 2009. The salary cap floor is also a scary proposition.
Because I have had nothing better do for the last 5 months than read about how the jets can keep their guys at different cap numbers. 120 gives Tanny some room to do his voodoo shit.
