I have a feeling that Holmes likes playing in New York, and wouldn't mind staying even for less money. Obviously that doesn't mean he'll stay if the Skins offer him a lot more than NY, though.

Isn't Washington currently something like $50M under what the potential salary floor might be?

Ugh. Do not want them getting in this with Holmes. I wasn't worried when LaCanfora reported the Bears wanted Holmes yesterday, because the Bears are a more stable organization, with more stable ownership, and they can't go too crazy with Peppers and Cutler eating up a lot of cap, but... Washington. Please, no. Leave your checkbook at home when it comes to Holmes. Thanks.

The Redskins are the Raiders of the NFC. Always ruining it for all the other teams by overpaying for players.

Smith is under contract for two more years at an average of 7.4 million per year. I could see the Jets getting him for about a 2012 third or fourth. He's not cheap and I doubt he's willing to take a paycut but who knows.

At this point IDC, as long as one of the two recievers from last year return then we are fine. Then we have money to sign Cromartie and we can also go Moss, Burress, Rice..theirs plenty options.

July 28 will be crazy though, hopefully im off from work cuz I really want to see this free agency unfold. I bet all day long we will get updates of players signing.

Seeya Santonio! We need to make Braylon our #1 target, which he shoulda been in the first place.

The Redskins plan is to sign every player top player on the market and still finish 6-10.

Did we not trade Coles to them?

I don't think so. I believe Coles signed with the Skins for the $, became disgruntled with the Skins, and then was traded back to the Jets in exchange for Santana Moss.

The Jets did not match a back-loaded contract offer by the Redskins and lost Coles as a restricted free agent.

Then they got him back for the price of a superior special teams player.

a superior STs player? Santana Moss was a damn good WR and has been every bit as good as Coles was. That was a fair trade but we gave up a good player.

i read some where that once the nfl is back in business that teams will have a short period to sign there own players. if that is the case then i don't even see holmes hitting the open market.

if rex visits holmes like he did with 57 and 24, he'll get the job done.

but if not, he'll sign big money some where and we'll get most likely a 3rd comp pick.

thats sucks if this happens. Braylon is great, but Holmes is the better WR.

I've heard nothing that would indicate either of those. I haven't heard anything that he would stay for less money. If anything, by skipping Jets West he's showing that he's looking out for himself first (not that there's anything wrong with that).

So that is just wishful thinking.

    not if he's a UFA.

Holmes would be another highly paid player on that team who would never live up to his contract due to the garbage that plays with him.
