Opening day, who is starting? (not counting special teams) Offense: QB - Sanchez RB - Shawn Green FB - Connor LT - Brick LG - Slauson C - Thor RG - Moore RT - Du Casse Mich WR - Plaxico Burress WR - Holmes TE - Keller Defense: DE: Wilkerson, Devito NT: Pouha OLB: Pace, Tamba Hali (franchise tag etc etc fuck it) ILB: Harris, Scott CB: Revis, Wilson S: Jim Lester, Dawan Landry
OFFENSE QB: Mark Sanchez RB: LaDainian Tomlinson FB: John Conner WR: Santonio Holmes WR: Braylon Edwards TE: Dustin Keller OT: D'Brickashaw Ferguson OG: Matt Slauson C: Nick Mangold OG: Brandon Moore OT: Vladimir Ducasse To me, Edwards is more important than Antonio Cromartie. He'll also probably come cheaper unless Washington offers him a ridiculous deal. I think Bill Powell will be inactive for the first half of the season - this kid probably won't be a factor until 2012. A lot of fans will shit their pants over this, but it really isn't a big deal with LT, Greene, and McKnight on the roster already. DEFENSE: DE: Muhammed Wilkerson NT: Sione Pouha DE: Shaun Ellis OLB: Calvin Pace ILB: David Harris ILB: Bart Scott OLB: Bryan Thomas CB: Darrelle Revis CB: Kyle Wilson S: Jimmy Leonhard S: Dawan Landry I feel like Landry will be our one "big" signing. I can also see Tannenbaum trading future draft picks to bring in a pass rusher or a safety. Letting Antonio Cromartie walk bumps Kyle Wilson into the starting lineup and may allow NY to re-sign both Holmes and Edwards.
if this happens, i see the board shitting more about cromartie than powell, but you're definitely right about it (powell not being a factor till next year) not mattering all that much with those in front of him.
I'd like to see the Jets replace Bryan Thomas sooner than later. Matt Roth would be a nice signing, but he'll probably end up with New England.
It's just a better move to bring back Braylon Edwards. This team has to be built around Mark Sanchez. The defense will be awesome no matter who's on the lineup card - it's just something Rex Ryan does.
QB: Mark Sanchez RB: Shonn Greene FB: John Connor WR: Santonio Holmes WR: Plaxico Burress TE: Dustin Keller LT: D'Brick Ferguson LG: Vlad Duccasse C: Nick Mangold RG: Brandon Moore RT: Damien Woody(will be brought back) DE: Muhammad Wilkerson NT: Sione Pouha DE: Mike DeVito OLB: Calvin Pace ILB: David Harris ILB: Bart Scott OLB: Bryan Thomas CB: Darrelle Revis CB: Nnamdi Asomugha(for Mr. E) S: Jim Leonhard S: Brodney Pool
Offense: QB Mark Sanchez RB LaDainian Tomlinson FB John Connor WR Santonio Holmes WR Braylon Edwards TE Dustin Keller LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson LG Matt Slauson C Nick Mangold RG Brandon Moore LG Vladimir Ducasse Defense: DE Muhammad Wilkerson NT Sione Pouha DE Shaun Ellis OLB Calvin Pace ILB David Harris ILB Bart Scott OLB Bryan Thomas CB Darrelle Revis CB Antonio Cromartie SS Jim Leonhard FS Brodney Pool

that was last year. rookie vs 2nd year is a big difference. sounds like vlad's future is at RT but if they brought back Woody then Vlad could compete for the starting G spot.
Please, He Who Is Most Knowledgeable, tell us why Matt Slauson shouldn't be our starting guard in 2010?
I never said he shouldn't. I said if the Jets bring back Woody, Vlad can compete for the starting G spot. Otherwise Slauson is the starting G while Vlad plays RT. It was my prediction that he'd beat out Slauson. Vlad was obviously awful last year and got beat out by Slauson, but like I said, he was a rookie.
Uhh, yes you did. If the Jets bring back Damien Woody, Vladimir Ducasse will either beat out the old, banged up vet or ride the pine again. He's not going to move back to guard. Matt Slauson was a hell of steal in the draft and he'll be starting for this team for quite some time. Bill Callahan loves this kid. A second year project pick like Ducasse will not beat out a third year player with a full season of solid starting experience.
if woody comes back all 5 starters return. ideal situation if woody is physically good to go.line play is all about continuity.no way they mess that up. also slauson did not do anything to have to compete for his job this year.he's therefor a while vlad's future is on the right side.either earn rt or rg when b.moore goes in a couple of years
Wayne Hunter would start over Vlad at RT, as well as Saluson at Guard over Vlad. Vlad needs more time to develop to NFL speed and stop opening up his stance so much.
absolutely agree. do i think braylon is a better reciever than santonio? hell no. do i think braylon is better for sanchez's development? fuck yeah i do. based on that alone braylon is more important to the jets than santonio. i was just thinking that the board, as a whole, would bitch more about a very good CB that we gave up a lot for really only one year of service than a RB that isn't going to see the field. but to your point, see danny woodhead/leon/last year's mc knight... so yea.. the board will still bitch.
I think same starting lineup as last year, except Greene in for LT and Wilkerson in for Ellis. Maybe Pool might be gone, it's hard to tell what the FO thought of him and hard to tell what they think of our own other FA options. I think Cro gets a tricky contract that appeases his ego, btu allows us to jettison him in a year or two if Wilson steps up and Braylon gets a tricky contract that gives us leverage against him fucking up off the field. If I read that cap article correctly, this is not that impossible, as long as Sanchez restructures and Harris signs long term. Other key resignings: I like E. Smith over Dig and Pool and Hunter over Woody, sadly Ellis walks and goes on to be quietly productive another five years.
For some reason, I feel like Bilal Powell was drafted because the coaching staff has sort of soured on Greene. He definitely has a lot of talent, but if he is constantly leaving games with injuries, what's the point? I think 2011 will be a year where he'll have to prove that he can stay healthy for an entire season. However, if he misses some time, this team will move on.
