Man, watching NFL Total Access, I lost a huge chunk of respect for Warren Sapp. He went out of his way to hate on Revis claiming that Cro was on the #1 last year and that Revis isn't as good as advertised. Baldy and Sap were arguing the #1 defensive player in the NFL. Sapp went with Ware, Baldy went with Revis...(actually said at this time he's the best player in the NFL)

Baldy goes to say that Revis was covering A. Johnson, C. Johnson, Wayne, T.O while showing some film of Revis destroying the WRs he covered, and then Sapp came back saying that was two years ago, Cro covered more #1's last year. Baldy then challenges Sapp to check it out in the film room and this arrogant douche again replies back with..." I don't need to check the film, Im here on set for all 16 games."

He did a great job of looking like a no-nothing piece of shit on national TV.

    /off-season rant.

    Bring on the season.

Without having all 19 games to go through I can't come up with definitive stats, and certainly Cromartie had a lot more work to do with the hamstring injury Revis suffered, but anyone who saw the games knows who the better cornerback is. It isn't even close.

This sounds like Sapp just trying to be controversial. You could argue that everyone on a TV show saying the same thing would be boring, so maybe he's told to say something weird every now and then. I just don't know what else to think.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Sapp is a garbage, talking-out-of-his-a**, bullying, wannabe "analyst".

It's clear he doesn't do his homework every time he speaks. If someone says something he doesn't like or has an argument to which he has no rebuttal for, he gets angry and aggressive.

It's a shame some of the quality analysts like Mayock, Faulk, Billick, and (now) Warner have work with garbage like Sapp and Theismann...

Sapp also had Cromartie as the #1 defensive free agent in the NFL, ahead of Asomugha.. maybe they have the same agent and he's promoting Cro as a favor or something.

In general, Sapp is a jackass. He tries so hard to be the hip, bold, cool "speak my mind" kind of guy.. like just because he was a good DT means he knows more than everyone else. I think guys like Mayock, Baldinger, Billick, and even Faulk are much better.

Sapp was a good player. That's where his talent ends apparently. I think he and Michael Irvin share the same brain or brain-like object.

I think he's funny personally. I don't take his analysis all that seriously; there's enough guys on that desk who know what they're talking about that they can afford a few guys there for comic relief.

He's a shit talking commentator. He was a shit talking player too - did anyone really think he was gonna get behind a desk and play the straight man?

we want sapp we want sapp!

Cromartie was on #1's when Revis wasnt here, and when he came back it took him 3-4 games to become Revis again. Okay maybe Sapp is correct % wise, but when Revis was back he covered people solo that, Cromartie's 8 kids couldn't cover 8 on 1.

Sapp actually knows what hes talking about......when it comes to front 7 play and OL complications.

he was out of his element and put his foot in his mouth for sure.

kinda sad cuz I dont think hes half bad.

    Dukes, Faulk, Mayock FTW though.

You can tell Baldinger was looking at him and just wanted to say "Warren, you're an idiot. Just stop talking."

I think Sapp's point was that Revis in 2010 had an off year and didn't show that he was the best player in football and perhaps second to DWare over the last two seasons as a defensive player. Given Revis' injury it is hard to argue that his 2010 season was quite as good as his 2009 season.

He certainly showed that he can be the same player but his performance was not at the same level.

Good question! I don't know but at times maybe the Jets were doubling the number 1 WR with Cro and a safety to get the QB to throw Revis's way. Just a thought and if true something Sapp should have realized.

Agree 100%. I can't stand that Sapp is on Inside the NFL, he almost ruins the show.

He's not completely wrong though, a lot of the time especially after Revis came back from the hamstring injury, it was Cromartie on the #1 guy (often leaving a lot of people clamoring for Rex to put Revis on X receiver). Most of that "dominance" shown on tape was probably from two seasons ago. It's not like it's really disrespecting Revis to choose DeMarcus Ware over him, IMO.

sapp must have progressed to smoking crack instead of weed with silly statements like that.

all i'm going to interject into this conversation is the afc wild card p/o game against the colts. wayne had one ball thrown his way covered by revis while cro's guy had a field day against him.

nfl channel should ask manning these questions not some slob on a couch.

not trying to rip cro, but get real with these stupid comparisons. revis is/ will-be the best jet to ever play this game for us while cro might be going to his third team in 3 years.

It's pretty typical for a team to use their best corner on the other team's number two wideout (without much safety help) and use their number two corner and a lot of safety help on the other team's best wideout. The Jets did this a fair amount although you'd have to watch a shitload of film to figure out the matchups.

For Sapp to use this as evidence that Cromartie is better than Revis means he suffered a few too many blows to the head as a ballplayer.
