To be fair Baltimore's great D led by ray collapsed in the 2nd half on the same field a week earlier.
Co-sign. While nobody can argue that Bart is a better player, he was a better fit for what we already had on defense, and he is basically Rex's human megaphone. Just listen to the Can't Wait speech again. Those are Rex's words. Bart is saying what Rex would if he were on the field himself. Bart carries out Rex's marching orders, and gets into guys that Rex wants to be kicked - he's the on-field attack dog. Not saying that Ray isn't capable of those things, but would he want to at this stage in his career? He'd want to be the undisputed leader, not the attack dog. He would want to be RayRay. Not an extension of Rex Ryan, as Bart most certainly is. And of course, I think Cato said it - as Ted linebacker David Harris got abused and misused. Once Rex moved him to Mike and brought Bart in, we saw what he could really do as a hunter. Bart was a better fit for the Jets. Even if we overpaid him.
