I don't give a shit what the rest of the league thinks. All I know is that the Jets drafted some kid, who played 1 year in college, and worked his ass off to be the starting QB for the Jets in 2009. He played like trash, and played very well throughout 2009, only to play outstanding in his first ever playoff game on the road in shit weather. Made enough plays in the AFC Divisional game(have to credit Revis Christ for making a religious football play..that interception was insanity) Then this same kid who sucked half season, made enough plays in the AFC Championship game to win, but had his defense let him down(our #2 and #3 corners going down didn't help) Then 2010 he played god damn well for about 70% of the season, and played outstanding in highly pressured situations. Played in the playoffs again with a bum shoulder, went into NE, where his stats were like 1 touchdown, and 7 interceptions, and put on a show infront of faggot Bill Belichick. damn this kid's future looks shitty. (sarcasm)
I love the progress that Sanchez has shown thus far, although in truth it's more for the specific areas he's improving than for statistical reasons. Ryan said it. He's a 4th quarter QB. For all of the years I have watched this team and been among the fan base, I know that the Jets need a winner more than they need a football god. Sanchez looked good at that combine, but Freeman was a man among boys as a Qb.
Freeman is a stud on a ok team. Sanchez is good athlete on a premiere team. Freeman has zero pressure in a small market. Sanchez was thrown to the wolves with the biggest media pricks in the country. The media in NY are pro Giants and hate the Jets , while the Tampa media, like most cities, are positive about the home team and QB until they crap out over time. Mark can never have Freeman's numbers, but Freeman has a long way to go to prove he can handle the pressure Mark has. The dude has Jeter coolness and smarts written all over him. He is all about winning and being classy. And eating a hot dog on the sideline is something a kid does.... which Mark is. He's the best young athlete in NY, better then Cano, better then Granderson, better then Steve Smith or Ike Davis
This is the video that I've watched most times in YouTube in the last months. I just love the texans faces... how happy they were... Schaub feeling great... it just puts a big smile on my face everytime I watch that video. Also, in case people has forgot, around the 2:30 mark on that video, they made a comment about how bad our great OLine played that day. I mean, considering Mark only plays well thanks to his supporting cast, that comeback should be highlighted because of that. (On a side note, every time I see it, I keep thinking what if Edwards tried to stay on the field to score the TD himself... he wouldn't have made it and he would have run down the clock... good think he didn't) --- But his best comeback (imho), is one he's rarely credited for: @1:40 Is 4th and 6 to go. 1:26 on the clock. Last chance. On the road. At Mile High. Orange Day. We're at midfield. I'm still pissed of that PI. If Santonio's mask is not grabbed, he catches the ball and walks into the endzone for a 48 yard winning TD.
Screw that the kid is goin to be great to afc ship games in two yrs come on if he wasnt playin in new york he would be called a god for that... And btw im actually selling one of my sanchez rookie autos my fav actually its a quad auto ud black rookie autos of sanchez freeman nate davis and stafford any1 interested just message me
Sanchez gets talked about a lot in the media, much more than any QB that was taken in the last 2-3 drafts. Playing in NY, Rex Ryan, and his post season play all contribute to the media fascination. However, most of these journalists were probably huge losers growing up and never played or even watched football. They got a communications degree and took any available job. Since most of them have little to no football background and probably have only watched Mark play a handful of times, they look at his regular season stats and base their articles/blogs on any stat they can find to fit the argument they are trying to make. Also, they know articles that speak negatively about high profile players are most likely to generate more page clicks. We all know what kind of QB Sanchez is. We all watch him every week and have watched him progress and make clutch plays at the end of the game and at big spots in playoff games time and time again. We don't need an idiot to tell us how good or bad our QB is. This is why I rarely watch any NFL analysis on ESPN and don't read opinion articles like these.
Sanchez has it. Whatever it is, he has it. It's an intangible, it's a mental thing. It's not about the numbers, that's what we know, that's what a jobbing hack doesn't. His playoff performances show this. In Mark we trust.
In his second year he tied the NFL record for most road playoff wins. I'm not sure you have to really say anything else.
Freeman is better than Mark Sanchez. If you honestly look at both players, there is no one in there right minds would take sanchez over freeman. Its time for Mark Sanchez ro start playing like the franchise player , hes getting paid to play like.
Close this thread please. "No one in their right mind would take Sanchez over Freeman." "He needs to play like the franchise player he's paid to be." Your username is revisoverrated, if you're not the very definition on the term Internet troll than I don't know what is.
Wooohooo the offseason is slow and I suppose I should attack this jackass and say .................nah I am just going to watch Jets playoff game the one where they beat the Pats.
LMFAO Is this thread serious or are we that freaking bored with the lockout. Is someone/s actualy saying sanchez is better then freeman? HAHAHAHAHA Sanchez is not responsiable for us going to the afc game. Matter of fact i will go as far as saying with our game plan the last two years any average QB could have gotten us to the same point. Sanchez clearly has talent. He has shown moments of GREATNESS in HOURS of RETARDATION. He has shown the ability "most of the time" to forget about how horriable he just played and move past it with in a set of downs. I think this year will be the TELL ALL year for Mark and if he doesnt show that we have the ability (not that we have to but have the ability to) to be a 50/50 Pass/Rush team then i will be screaming for a QB next year. Personaly if you really believe that sanchez should have been named in the top 100 then you probably should have tivo'ed every game for later review.
Admittedly, I've probably only read about half the posts in this thread, so I can't speak for everyone who was posting about this, nor do I want to. I know that when the Top 100 show first started, I was under the impression that it was ranking everyone based on their 2010 season alone, as opposed to their full body of work. What it is seems to be just a ranking based on a combination of both, heading into this season, I guess. When I thought it was based on 2010 alone, and I saw that Donovan McNabb, for one glaring example, managed to get a spot, albeit dead last, I figured there was no way that Sanchez could be left off since with the exception of Week 1, he had a fantastic start to the season, and then lead the series of 4th quarter comebacks in the middle. That, combined with a decent finish to the regular season plus (maybe most importantly) good-great playoff performances following his huge rut should have, IMO, definitely qualified him for a spot... I'm not saying it should have been a high spot, but likely between 80-100. But, it's been obvious for a long time that there really isn't definitive criteria that this list is based. One of the more controversial list snubs, for anyone who's even loosely been following the NFL Network/.com reactions, was Eli Manning being excluded. Maybe a week ago, one of the NY sports writers was a guest on Total Access or the Reaction show and debated why he should be included, and the detractors' (I think it was Sapp and Dukes, can't remember for sure) first argument was that he threw too many INTs this past season (lead the league, actually)... Retort: If we're basing it on 2010, why is McNabb there? Answer: He has a such a strong body of work, and lead his team to a Super Bowl and multiple Conference Title games... I guess? Retort: Eli won a Super Bowl... so we are basing it on entire body of work? Answer: ... Not quotes, obviously, but that's how little sense it made, which is what I'm trying to say, I guess, for the list as a whole. I think most of the posters are beyond actually caring about the list, for what it's worth. I feel like I may have lost my original point I was trying to make. I'm not trying make a flat out comparison between Sanchez and Eli/McNabb, but the bottom line is: No one seems to know what criteria the list is based. I've seen/heard multiple people on NFL.com and on TV mention that players ranking players rarely translates well in this sort of thing. I tend to agree.
YaY i can finaly freaking qoute. I saw that same epidsode and had the same exact reaction. The list is basicly a crock but i took this post more so as a freeman/sanchez comparison. QB to QB sanchez clearly loses this comparison. Hopefully this will change this season
No one thats not a HOMER would take Sanchez over Freeman. Lets just say Mark Sanchez is the best Mexican/ American Qb in the Nfl, and leave it at that. Happy Fathers day and knock down a guiness for me.
I know the Jets would take Sanchez and that is all that matters. you can have the meningless #s, let's see what happens the day Freeman plays in his firt meaningful NFL game and let's see what happens when he ahs to play w/ expectations for the first time in probably his life. It's a different ballgame w/ expectations.
Maybe I'm unorthodox...I'll take the guy who has 4 road playoff wins in his first 2 seasons. Even though he had nothing to do with it. In 6 playoff games (all on the road) 95-157, 60.5%, 1155 yards, 9 TDs, 3 INTs, 94.3 rating Plus: 3 4th quarter comebacks and 5 game winning drives last season alone and 2 4th quarter comebacks resulting in 2 game winning drives in the playoffs. Nothing, To. Do. With. It.
Taking it personal? On this board? Are you high? He did spell guinness wrong but....it doesn't matter to me. I like my QB, it dont matter to me what he thinks or what anyone thinks.
