hope he can handle the physicalities of being an analyst. don't want him to rupture his vocal cords or get lock jaw or some other announcing related injury.
I think Chad will do a great job. He was a very, very smart player who just didn't have the arm strength or conditioning to get over the hump.
Everytime i hear something about Chad P i start to feel guilt. I always felt like he was one of the smartest QB's in the nfl. When he took the first injury it was clear we didnt allow him to heal properly and continued to abuse his loyalty to the jets. All though i would love to see him in some form of a coaching position even if it was just a QB coach I just wish him the best in what ever roads he chooses.
Pennington: QB with the highest percentage of throws completed in the history of the NFL. Sanchez: Up and coming QB that needs work on his completion percentage. Mmm... find a logical way to conclude this argument.
Chad Penningto takes a job with a small demand in hours so he can spend time with his family while Mark Sanchez works on his decision-making, timing and technique woth teammates and coaches.
It's actually good he's going to Fox. Fox's crew is terrible outside of Tim ryan, *maybe* dick stockton and charles davis. They need better talent. Moose Johnston is alright too..nothing great but he's ok.
chad worked as hard as anybody. it wasn't about conditioning. durability is another story. and His arm strength prior to his first shoulder injury wasn't terrible either. He could make almost every throw. But after that, he was never the same and the term throwing a "hanging chad" become infamous.
Why is he not being brought in to be the QB coach? Heck, he can be a better OC than the idiot that currently occupies the position as soon as the lockout ends. And, I don't get the FOX thing either. Seems more of a CBS type guy considering he has spent 10 years in the AFC. Regardless, I am happy that Chad is going to still be involved with football, and hope to see him be the Jets OC at some point.
its amazing how many people just dont read the original post or read the first 3 lines and have you reply. btw i blame herm for pennington not being as good as he could have been. just cause its fun to blame herm for things every now and again.
+1 Well said in both posts. Here's to Chad remaining an active member of the NFL community in any capacity.
Glad to see that see that Chad got some work. This job will be perfect for him. I always liked him as our QB. As a smart guy, I'm sure he's going to have some insight on the broadcast team. He may even make Fox's NFL coverage bearable!
I had a feeling this is where Chad would land. I think he'll provide a ton of intelligent insight in his commentary -- Like Ron Jaworski, without making your eyes and ears bleed. Good Luck, Chad!
I'm glad to see Chad get into television. I think he'll be a good analyst: that's to say, he can't be more annoying than perhaps Matt Millen or some of the other announcers out there, so he has every chance at being successful.
I'm not sure what's more awkward, watching Pennington throw a pass or looking at a straight-on camera shot of him. His eyes are like a millimeter apart. He's almost a cyclops.
I thought Chad was grossly overrated. I understand he was a Rhodes scholar, but how that translate into the apparent certainty some have here that he would be a great addition to the coaching staff is beyond me. He has no track record whatsover, other than all those games he held a clipboard and waived towels. With his uninjured hand. Maybe if they sprinkled some pixie dust on him. The love of all things Chadwickian among a certain segment of the Jet fanbase seems not yet to be over. And this after the Jet FO and CS sent him packing, and he went to Miami. Yuck. Here's a simple way to think about this - is Chad a Rex Ryan kind of player? Obviously not. Next.
