From the article: “If it were to be determined that an NFL employee had made an investment in violation of league policy on gambling-related activities, that individual would be directed to withdraw the investment and it would be reviewed for potential discipline,” NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said. There seems to be a lot of grey area here, but considering Holmes is already in bad standing with the NFL, this could be a potential problem.

I doubt it'll get him suspended, especially since there's a lockout and no one knows if a player can be disciplined during a lockout.

Disagree. Yes, he has some great moments, but they are just enough moments to make us forget about all the fuck ups. I can't even count the times I screamed "FUCKING HOLMES!!!!!" at the screen last year.

He won us four games for certain, one (Denver) for almost certain, and could have won us one more (Dolphins at home). Hell even Green Bay was a totally different game, and probably a win, if he caught that slant (among any one of nine thousand other dumbass things not happening). Good or bad, he is the textbook definition of a game changer. Those are truly rare. Gotta keep him.
You are pretty much making Colleen's point for her with that one. Holmes made a lot of great plays and won us four games but he also had a few stupid fucking drops early in games thatcontributed to the team needing to come from behind late. So yes, he is a game changer but that won't mean much if he is suspended for a good portion of the season - pro sports usually don't take gambling violations lightly. He's a much bigger priority than Smith but Braylon should still be the number one priority of the WRs. Especially when we're looking to field a roster with four HBs that could be carrying the ball. Hopefully this will drop his price down but if he continues to set it at a prohibitive level then the FO might want to start looking elsewhere.
Holmes is gone for a year if he gets suspended again. Depending on how this unravels he could get real cheap real fast.
What I said was all in the context of no suspension. If the league comes down on him for this then whether or not he's a game-changer is out the window anyway. Tanny's not gonna hand a guy a long term deal to sit at home for a year. Now as far as discipline goes, wouldn't this fall under the personal conduct policy as opposed to the substance abuse policy? I think they are treated differently and Holmes would not be a repeat offender under the conduct policy. I think...

Thank you. As I've said before, the 4Q might be "Tone Time" but what about the other 45 minutes of every game? I've seen a lot of reports the past coupe of months that behavior by players while the lockout exists is still going to be reviewed when the agreement is made. Tone is going to lose a year of playing time, and this is the big year for the Jets. At this point we need to cut the line and move on. (Admittedly I'm far more in favor of bringing back Edwards than Holmes, but losing him all year is senseless.)
So am I wrong that if suspended it would be for a year? I thought he next suspension for whatever reason it was, would be for a year.
