Okay thanks. Upon first glance, it appeared that Madbacker Prime inferred your league does not include WHIP.

It is a basic 5 by 5 right?

I'm subscribed to this thread because I had posted in it a while back. Of course, I could easily unsubscribe to it. Anyway, out of boredom I clicked on it today.

    MP wrote-
He was writing about how a different league of his included strikeouts for batters. He went on to write about how he thinks the league also had OPS and WHIP as if to imply that those were two other categories that you fellows are not using in this here TGG league.

I declined it but I'm thinking of a counter. It's close, I just have zero interest in Chipper.

I forgot about the WHIP, may apologies. The main thing I was talking about was adding losses, or blown saves, something like that.

I don't have a say obviously, but just throwing something out there for you guys to consider-

In my league we are 5x5 this year but are going to 6x6 next year. Holds, QS, or IP will be added. WHIP may be removed for K/BB ratio. I'm not a big WHIP fan. It doesn't appear in many newspaper boxscores. K and BB do, so K/BB ratio is easier to figure out blah blah blah. WHIP didn't exist as "WHIP" till about 2001. All of a sudden it appeared one year and somehow it became a default fantasy stat.

One year I was in a league that was 11x11 I think, a ton of stats both negative a positive.

I love the IP stat, also requiring a minimum to qualify your pitching stats.

QS is a interesting idea, that'd be a first for me but would make it more interesting.

Like I mentioned earlier I would love to add SO to the batters side of stats.

I am going to have a tough time getting IP added. The league likes QS and holds more.

They think IP is akin to at-bats or plate appearances or games started. Thing is, IP has real value. Innings pitched is the same thing as outs recorded. ("Outs" is a stat category available in Yahoo leagues. Between outs and IP, it's just a matter of preference. 3 outs=1 IP. Do you want to deal with lower or higher numbers?) Barring injury- who will pitch more innings this year- CC Sabathia or Ivan Nova? You see what I'm saying?

As long as you have a transaction limit, IP works. I have played in several leagues with IP and it was never a problem.

IP is huge in ERA so it already has a huge impact in most leagues. The only reason to add it as a separate category is to lower the value of RP. I would be all for a required amount of innings pitched to have stats qualify or something like that as long as it is reasonable.

Cakes I know you’re not in our league but you should try to joins us next year we have about 8 guys who really play and 12 spots. This is actually pretty good for a message board league.

    QS won't happen since 6 IP 3 ER(4.50 ERA) counts but 9 IP 4 ER(4.00 ERA) doesn't.

IP requirement is fine but it won't be part of the scoring.

We'll see about which ones to add for next season. It'll be put up to a vote.

Does anyone know that status of Tommy's Yanks and Miami Jam? They both haven't done a thing this year and I would like to know if they are planning to play this season, especially Miami Jam since he has 3 guys on the DL and hasn't even done a transaction at all outside 1 activation. Tommy has done nothing, zilch, nada.

I think we're going to end up adding holds in my league. IP and QS do have their problems.

I booted Jam from my league in March. He was the only guy who would not discuss league settings back when that stuff was still open for discussion. I e-mailed him to see what was going on. He said he was busy with school and maybe wasn't going to be very active. That was enough. I let him go. No hard feelings between us.

We'll if that's the case I'll probably boot him as well with Tommy(no activity at all not even a roster change) so there will be two open spots soon. If you want it you can have either one, just PM me your pick of either one and your email address so I can send the invite.

If we were going to add anything pitching wise it would have to be holds. It would fix the severe undervaluing of middle relievers.

    Yeah ty for that- lol

My team just loves to suck it up on Sundays. A 3-25 offensive effort yesterday.

That would be cool to get some new managers in here, breathe some new life. JAM has 2 guys on the DL in his starting lineup, haha.

I saw that! Welcome to the playoff hunt!

I pretty much split with Town hall roof Devils. He came back on me Saturday and Sunday.

On Madbacker's point: We have a pretty good group of active players we just need a few of the inactive guys to pick it up or bow out.

I'm giving up on the Save category all together.

I'll trade Craig Kimbrel for someone, or Craig Kimbrel plus a SP for a better player.

As you know Craig Kimbrel is one of the young, talented closers of this generation and should be around to dominate for years to come. lol
