yeah the problem is Yankees and Red Sox fans stuffed the ballot box again. Plus, I don't get how Reyes isn't leading the balloting at NL SS. He's in a big market, and is clearly having the best season of any shortstop.
Dwayne Murphy (Jays hitting coach) worked with Bautista on his batting stance and timing last April. He was instructed to start pulling the ball more...and he hasn't looked back. This year he's showing more patience at the plate. He's reached base in every game he's played this season except for 3 games. He's certainly earning the contract he signed in the offseason. A risky contract (especially after the Rios/Wells contract debacles) to give a player after one year of elite production, and it's paying early dividends.
The way he's playing so far he must be in talks for MVP. If he can get his RBI up he'd be a Triple Crown contender. Same for Adrian Gonzalez, he just needs more HR's.
Bautista needs the guys around him to start hitting (Lind is starting to heat up finally). Aaron Hill, Juan Rivera and Edwin Encarnacion need to be shown the door. A.Gonzalez is playing out of his mind.
it's most likely due to most of the 'general MLB fan'/non-Met fans not being aware of how Reyes is doing this year or the type of player he is. There was a non-Met fan poster on this board who at the end of the last baseball season wrote that Jason Bartlett was better than Jose Reyes.
Angels Release Kazmir Remember in 2009, when Don was claiming that the Yanks were stupid for letting the Angels acquire Kazmir and how the Yanks were doomed? Yeah... yeah.
Dodgers beat the Astros 1-0. 6 total hits today, and Chris Johnson and Dioner Navarro had four of them. Four total walks. Aside from Johnson and Navarro, the teams combined to go 2/49.
Gaby Sanchez is having a good year after his first full season. Seeing guys break into the league at 26-27 and just now make an impact makes you realize how special the A-Rod's of the world really are.
http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2...t-jim-riggleman-resigns-as-nationals-manager/ Just minutes after the Nationals beat the Mariners with a walk-off sacrifice fly in a 1-0 game to move above .500 manager Jim Riggleman announced his resignation. According to general manager Mike Rizzo this morning Riggleman expressed displeasure about his contract, which includes a 2012 option that the Nationals haven’t picked up, and said he would step down from the job if it wasn’t handled by the end of the game. It wasn’t and he did. What an odd situation, particularly with the Nationals playing their best baseball in … well, ever. Riggleman was clearly extremely frustrated by the entire situation.
I feel for Riggleman. Rizzo is an idiot and has basically backed into his great core because of his stupid decisions and pure dumb luck. The fact that he refused to commit to Riggleman after all Riggie has done for the team is mind blowing. If anyone should be gone, it's Rizzo. *EDIT* And because there is a myriad of other retarded GMs like Rizzo, Riggie will have a tough time finding a new position. What a load of shit.
Well they're both stupid. Riggleman's only chance of being a manager next year was to ride out his contract and hope the option did get picked up. You don't ask for a raise after 75 games and then walk out on your team. It would be the equivalent of Revis holding out during the season because he wanted a raise and then refusing to play in the playoffs if he didn't get it. And the ownership is dumb if only because it looks bad that you give players gajillions of dollars, extend their contracts but you won't give 600 grand to a manager. Picking up his option doesn't mean you can't fire him at the end of the season anyway, it's just an additional (small) sunk cost.
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/06/phillies-release-jc-romero-.html This move kind of crept underneath the radar but the Phils released JC Romero. He's a pretty good lefty in the bullpen. I'm surprised a team like the Yanks haven't taken a look at him....
Did anybody see this Tulowitzki hit the ball twice play? It's unreal.. never seen anything like it. You'll need to listen to it to truly appreciate it. Michael Kay didn't even realize what happened. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/bi...ings-once-connects-twice-for-?urn=mlb-wp10795
The Dodgers have filed for bankruptcy protection. It's amazing how a succession of idiotic actions by the McCourts and Major League Baseball have reduced one of the flagship franchises in sports to this. http://www.cbssports.com/#!/mlb/story/15271429/dodgers-file-for-bankruptcy-protection-in-delaware
http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/gametracker/recap/MLB_20110702_SD@SEA SEATTLE -- San Diego's Cameron Maybin walked after just three balls were thrown by Seattle's Doug Fister and came around to score the only run of the game on Antonio Gonzalez's fifth-inning single, sending the Padres past the Mariners 1-0 on Saturday night. With one out in the fifth, Maybin walked when a pitch was called high by home plate umpire Phil Cuzzi. A video review of the at-bat by official scorer Dan Peterson confirmed the count should have been 3-2 when Maybin walked. No argument was made by anyone on the field and the stadium scoreboard showed a three-ball count before Fister (3-9) delivered the pitch.
