So he goes from Namath doesn't belong in the hall of fame to Henne is as good as Mark. Another shit offseason article.
This guy is an idiot. If football was based off of stats a lot of players would not be in the Hall of Fame. 1. Chad Henne has Brandon Marshall probably the best wide receiver in the NFL. 2. Henne has more experience at any level, than Mark. 3. If there is any reason to take Henne over Sanchez is that he has a mean forehead vagina.
There is one aspect that ofteng gets overlooked in statistics... and that's WHEN those throws are being made/completed. Sanchez always makes his best throws and gets in the zone in the most important moments of the game, Henne on the other hand usually hits his completions when there isn't much pressure on his shoulders. This is what makes Sanchez infinitely better than Henne... right now and as a prospect. PS Also he's asked to play in a very braniac offense with not many high percentage throws...
There's all sorts of reasons to ignore this article. I love the argument he uses regarding bad decision percent. Henne had 19 INTs in 2010 and was benched in favor of Chad Pennington in his THIRD year. His TD:INT ratio actually got WORSE when he was given a #1 receiver to throw to.
He implies that thought by making a case that since a QB plays in NY, they are naturally overrated to start. He at first disagrees with the premise, then supports the idea, all in three paragraphs. He then goes on to imply that Sanchez is overrated and no better than a guy who is struggling in his fourth year in Miami, tying the fact of Namath being overrated and not really a hall of famer to Sanchez being just average at best. It is almost like he is saying nothing at all and taking no side. But in reality, he is.
This is all about stats, stats only tell part of the story. It's not about the #s themselves but rather about when those # are accumulated. I don't care if Chad henne throws 2 TDs in a blowout loss or if the team is being blown out he pads his #s in garbage time. Sanchez is not a stat QB yet, He's more like Brady earlier in his career(not as good though obviously) where he didn't put up big #s but he made plays to win games. The "experts" these websits trot out are emabrrassing, I think this is the same guy that used the dropped INT stat which is a joke- do we now count fropped INTs and dropped recs by the offensive players too? It's embarrassing to read nonsense like this. There is a reason Miami is looking for a QB and we are not.
That Bufalo game alone l ast year kills Marks numbers.... I COMPLETELY THROW THAT GAME OUT... IMO, the Jets staff was playing games with Mark... That's my only explanation - The Jets were winning, the Jets were ramming the ball down their throat at a record pace, yet, in a wind storm the jets staff had Sanchez throwing the ball leading to multiple pics.... That game, to me, is not Mark Sanchez and Should nevber have happened if the coaches did the right thing there.
The world of Fantasy Sports have made people who cover the NFL as their careers fucking stupid. I love these articles. I read an interview with Santonio Holmes on Mark. In the interview, Holmes said, Sanchez gets pissed off, mad, upset, etc when people/NFL Reporters give him shit for his interceptions, inconsistency, and bad play. I dunno, if Sanchez would come out, and say this if asked, but I'm going to believe Holmes on this. I hope Mark got this article, and had some good poop material to read.
In '09 3 games really skewed his #s. He threw 20 INTs all season and 12 of them in 3 games(@NO, Buf, @NE).
that game was two years ago. So....to get back on topic, when's the next "Sanchez gets no respect" thread gonna start? By my calculations, Saturday afternoon? It will be written by some mo-mo that no one has ever heard of or a Miami beat reporter, and we will all bitch about it anyway.
like MadBacker said football is not baseball where somewhat inane stats become more necessarry to prove points. ill put it this way i would understand the sanchez hate if he didnt perform in the playoffs cuz then he really would be a decent player who proved to be nothing more than decent on the big stage. hes less than stellar on a regular basis as of now, but he just has a penchant to make some nice throws when it matters. and most of all you can tell the team responds to him which i think is number 1. im excited to see if he makes a year 3 jump. hopefully we see less 3rd down and 4th qtr heroics due to a more consistent sanchez protecting a late lead. and anything 60% or above completion pct. would be nice to see about 25 td's. due to his aggressive throw selection i dont think youll ever see him throw less then 10 INT's ever. time to bring the td's up. that being said the guy isnt missing one intangible. i have faith in him and look forward to seeing how this year plays out once the NFLPA and NFL can wake the hell up.
Living in FL, I have several lifelong phinphan friends....... every single one said they would take Sanchez over Henne. :finssuck:
Sanchez is seen to possibly have a bright future for a few reasons: 1. He came out of college very early (only started 10 games) and thus needs time to develop. 2. Lots of wins. 3. Sanchez showed last year he can put on very good games and streaks. Sanchez had great games in week 2 3 and 4 and was int free until game 6. Sanchez also played well in his last two playoff games. Chad Henne had no such streaks last season. 4. Sanchez broke a 100 QB rating 6 times last season, and broke 120 3 times. Henne only broke a 100 QB rating 2 times, with his high being 106. Simply put, Sanchez makes mistakes but he has a very high ceiling. If he continues improvement as he did from year 1 to year 2, he can be a top 10 QB. Henne did not improve as drastically from year 1 (as a starter) to year 2, and his good games simply aren't as good as what Sanchez puts up.
