Where will Revis rank amongst all-time CBs when it's all said and done?

    Best of all-time? Top 3? Top 10?

This is assuming that he sustains current production without significant health issues for the next 7-8 years or so. Perhaps not 2009 performance but just under that (somewhere between '09 and '10).

If he keeps his play at 80% of what we've seen in 2009 and 2010, he'll be a lock for Top 10. I wouldn't count him out at top 3 or even best overall, but he'll have to dominate for a decade to be up for that kind of consideration. Also, he'll need some vanity stats to boost his rankings: INT, FF, DEF TD, etc.

Obviously yeah, if he doesn't have any injuries.. probably at the end of the top 10.

    It's a different game now.

I cannot seem him passing all time greats like, Ronnie Lott, Darrell Green, Night Train Lane, Deion Sanders, Rod Woodson, Mel Blount.. Don't see him passing those guys.

That brings up the fundamental question: How do you judge a CB's performance? Is it strictly based on how well you shut down the other team's receiver or how well you accumulate interceptions, deflections, etc.?

80% of the media grades corners on stats. Now that Revis had an outstanding cover, and statistical season, he will always be in the discussion...even though he will never have a statistical season (on the box score) ever again like 09.

people that arent morons judge it by what they see.

It clearly depends on how we're defining "best CB".

If it's based exclusively on man-to-man coverage abilities, he's the best all-time, IMO; Deion being the only other candidate up for debate.

If it's on overall contribution to the defense, then somewhere in the latter half of top-10.

The only CB I have ever seen better then Revis is Deion, if he sustains 2010 level for the rest of his career he will easily be top 5. If he has a coupe more 2009 seasons he will be top 2.

You realize that for the games he played healthy in, they graded him higher in 2010 than his '09 campaign. It was on profootball focus or some other stats website that does all that crazy metric stuff. I remember reading about it at the end of the season.

Depends if we win 0 or 3 super bowls with him on the team.

Even Fatcessa says Revis is the best since Dieon. I never saw Dieon play so I have no clue but Revis is pretty damn good.

Probably, but I dont understand that profootball focus website. They said Sanchez had 15 dropped interceptions, and Eli Manning had 3, or 4 tipped interceptions.. I recall Eli having atleast 6 against the Titans, and Panthers.

today's game should actually help his case. it's a pass happy league. the rules are made for offense. you cannot lay a hand on the receiver after 5 yards.

yet he still is able to do what he does. I firmly believe his 09 season was the best season by any cover corner in NFL history, and yes that beats out Deion's 1996. He lost the DPOY vote because of one thing, Woodson returned one INT for a TD on the day Darelle couldn't come up with a game ending INT against Atlanta. If Revis makes that pick, I don't think Woodson wins DPOY.

Regardless, if Revis maintains his level of mirror-dominance for 3 more years, he will be a shoo-in for top 5, if he does it for 5 more top 2 with Deion and if he can sustain it until he is 31-32 he will be considered the greatest ever. Especially if he is able to win a ring (or more) in NY.

deion didnt tackle thats why he even coined the phrase "i didnt refuse to tackle i just made 'business decisions' "

i remember a play where curtis broke a tackle, cutback and Deion basically jogged beside curtis sprint refusing to tackle him. was pretty funny

Revis is on his way to becoming Deion plus tackling. Revis will probably never have gaudy INT numbers simply because of how littler hes thrown at.

that being said night trane lane, mel blount, and ronnie lott thats a lofty list

revis needs to prove more but hes hands down best in the nfl right now imo

Real fans in the know, will have him ranked top 3 IMO.

Now it's at the point where he won't get thrown at so his INTs and PDs will be down but only due to his insane coverage skills. Something that doesn't show in the stat line.

Just look at Peyton and Reggie Wayne in the past playoffs. 1 target, 1 reception for 5 yards. lol

Side-note, Sanchez led us for the game winning score. Just saying.

You gave Wayne 5X as many yards as he gained for that game.

    1 reception, 1 yard.
