Dustin Keller while in Purdue got into a bar fight and he was a 1st round pick and nothing was ever mentioned about that again.........

Keller changed his act and has been a role model player since coming to the NFL. Why would Ellis possibly be any different?

    +1

    Ellis was a solid choice.

I didn't think he would be on the board at the end of Rd 3.

Ellis will win his case because of two words: self defense.

A dude came at him with a baseball bat and Ellis basically broke his face.

Some of us wanted Sheard because he's got that serial-killer mentality. Ellis is a bad man.

I have my problems with the guy because he was incredibly immature and selfish at South Carolina, but it seems like he's matured a lot over the past few years.

Bottom line: we just selected a player with mid-second round talent at the bottom of the third. Excellent pick.

    Good point!!

Sanchez was accused of at USC........blah, blah....you get my point.

I heard Ellis was defending a girl and the dude had a baseball bat.

Have to trust Tanny and his staff.

That's got to be a positive trait for a lineman - often outnumbered, never outgunned.

I wish we had a youtube video of the so-called assault - I'm sure it would be more impressive than Gilbert jumping out of a pool.

Somehow, I feel better about the pick after seeing this clip. I shouldn't but I do. SEEMS like a good kid rather than the thug facing 20 years as has been reported everywhere last night and this morning.

As far as reefer in college, man, the dude is from Jamaica. What choice did he have? Plus, I'd bet me and my roommates smoked as much. No, we smoked more since it wasn't as powerful.

One problem: Shaun Ellis, Kenrick Ellis. Both have marijuana history... Look out! If Shaun re-signs it'll be "Ellis Reefer Madness" up front for the Jets.

Rex built one of the best D-lines in the league with an old Big Kat, some nonames and leftovers. Now he has invested two high draft-picks in the D-line and I can wait to see it in action. It's about time for Tom Brady to shit his pants.

Tannenbaum has a Law background. He wouldn't have made this pick unless he was sure what kind of consequences K Ellis would receive for punishing a man trying to assault him. Cimini is clueless, as usual.

I love the pick, adressing the DL was priority #1 imo.

Pretty sure Tanny's background is in accountancy, but the Jets definitely do their homework before adding players, so I'm not too worried.

I love it when tackles pride themselves on their run-stopping abilities.
