WalterFootball' pick review: Some much-needed insurance just in case the Jets can't re-sign Braylon Edwards or Santonio Holmes. Jeremy Kerley probably could have gone a round earlier than this, so New York is getting some good value here. (Pick Grade: A)
I hear he was a pretty damn good QB in high school, and TCU recruited him as a WR. Here's a pretty sick punt return highlight of his:
Kerley is going to be a fan favorite in NY. It's awesome. He can play the slot right away if we can't bring back both Bray and Tone, but if we do, he will be a great contributor on Teams. We showed lots of interest in him, and I mentioned before the Powell pick, I felt Kerley would be Rex's pick, for all we know he was, and Powell was more of an organizational decision as he fell down the board. Either way we got 4 great players this weekend who will help out our team this year. But its still very important we resign our own talent once FA begins.
Looks like he has really quick feet and catches everything with his hands, good open field runner, looks like a nice pick, should develop nicely into a slot receiver.
Mayock loved the Pick for the Jets and thinks we got real value. Quote : "Tough player, not afraid to go over the middle, NIGHTMARE for LBs and Ss to cover...."
Empty backfield set: Holmes and Edwards outside, Cotchery and Kerley inside, Keller at TE. If Kerley is ready to step in and play receiver from day 1, good luck.
