Shane Vereen over Mikel LeShoure? Nate Solder? They love to trade down, but at what point does their window close? Had they kept their draft picks over the years, they may have five or six super bowls by now.... By the time all these kids develop Brady will be on his last legs... Cameron Jordan and Mark Ingram would have been WINS for them...
To me, the Pats' picks are head-scratchers. I guess Belichick likes his certain type of players. Can't say too much, he wins.
agreed...they drafted a project at tackle, reached for a corner, drafted a backup qb, and two running backs that they dont need/wont use...major win for the jets
Oh good, this got moved. Fuck Al for trading next year's 2 for a 3rd that's 10 picks away and a fucking 4th.
Every year the Pats draft a lineman folks say is a project or reach, and each time that lineman winds up top notch (Light, Mankins, Vollmer, Koppen). Also, if the Pats let him slide, he was the Colts top option 3 picks later. As for RB, they don't need or won't use the RBs? Kinda like they didn't need Woodhead and didn't use him. I'll wait until the season is actually played before I start projecting winners and losers in this draft. One prediction... Mallet will eventually either take over as the team's QB or get the Pats a high draft pick in trade.
1(17): Anthony Castonzo OT Boston College 1(28): Da'Quan Bowers DE Clemson 2(1): Jabaal Sheard OLB Pittsburgh 2(28): Brendan Harris CB Miami 3(9): Justin Houston OLB/DE Georgia 3(12): Ryan Mallet QB Alabama (3(28) and 4(28) in a trade for 3(12) with the Jaguars) This could have potentially been the Pats draft
So a team with a great offense, the best QB in the league, and a defense that was a clear weakness uses a bushel of early picks in a draft deep in defense to draft an OL, 2 RBs, a back up QB, and a CB. I sure hope the experts don't continue to rave about how brilliant this organization is. And when are the draft experts going to call the Pats on constantly trading picks for next year's picks???? What is the value of stock piling picks when you don't use them. I feared this was the year the Pats were going to use the draft to replenish their defense. That fear has passed just as the Pats passed on defensive players.
One solid running back would have been an ok need pick. Unfortunately, they didn't pick anyone that fit that bill.
anybody else has their draft with their needs and its a laughed at. NFL network licks their balls so bad it isnt funny. Usually its ESPN with the ball lickin' however Kiper manned up and talked about how all the moving out has affected them by missing out on Clay Matthews and such - first guy to actually say that. NFL networks analysis on the 2nd rb they selected "we had him as a sixth round pick, but im sure if the pats saw something that hes a good player" WHAT? LOL also they praise Belicheck up and down for these moves but hes not the GM. Im sure he has some say but they got scouts and a front office like every other team, which actually has lost a lot of talent in recent years with promotions to other teams. Just insane that they assume they are making great decisions. they have 2 1sts and 2 2nds next year... cool whatever they'll end up with 2 players like everyone else
Mallet is already being ordained the next Tom Brady because, get this, there were 6 QBs taken between both. That's the comparison. They are entirely different players and Mallet is entirely unfit for their scheme...he's a statue. It would be like a return to Bledsoe.
They have gone six straight seasons without a Super Bowl victory, yet the way they get talked about you'd think they won six straight.
Belichick is gonna FREAK OUT when he goes on here tonight and realizes Mullet is totally unfit for their system because he's too slow.
ingram jordan ayers reed thats only 4 of the players they passed on. they keep trading back brady keeps getting older. they shit the bed in this draft unless they hit home runs in all 4 of their first picks in rounds 1-2 next yr. mallet was a good value pick though. funny how there best pick was a qb.
