I wonder if this factored in with the choice, as well as the choice with Wilson last year. Maybe knowing their family lives close, they have ties to the area, have roots here, might make them more loyal? Who knows.
love this fuckin pick didnt even think hed be around the whole time i was thinking wed be lucky if ayers/heyward were on the board. gotta love finally getting some talent and youth up front. especially with devito being the only other viable option moving forward in the big picture its rare to see someone that big have that kind of athleticism. LOVE his motor too.
Been watching some video on this kid and he should be a great player for this defense. The Jets need someone who can get that qb pressure without bringing the house all the time. This could be the guy to get that job done. Can you imagine how sick this defense will be if they could get pressure with 3 or 4 guys.
I'm not sure why you'd call it safe and not exciting. Here's what Kiper wrote in his final mock the day before the draft when he had Wilkerson going 17th overall to the Pats: Here's McShay, who had him going 18th overall to the Chargers in his final mock of 4/20: McShay again in his second to last mock (4/6) he had Wilkerson going 11th overall to the Texans: Mayock, from Path To The Draft in late March: And more from NFL.com:
I love the pick but I hate the fact that the Pats are going to load up in rounds 2 and 3. New England has 3 picks in the 2nd round and 2 in the 3rd. In the 2nd round they have the first pick of that round, the 24th and 28th. With so much talent left they're in a really good spot.
Shit already? Or before he was drafted by the Jets. I didn't follow him much so I didn't know if they already did...
Good thing the Patriots are such a mediocre drafting team. Hopefully, last year was the exception, and they get back to drafting guys like Terrence Wheatley, Shawn Crable, Kevin O'Connell, and Darius Butler.
Yeah it's unbelievable how the Pats load up on picks every year. They're going to get some pass rush help here in the 2nd round, unfortunately. Although I think there's probably a good chance they trade out of that #33 pick and end up with even more future picks.
I think the most important question for Wilkerson is this: What kind of ratings will he get in Madden?? That will tell the true story of his potential and ability..
