Seeing as we are more than likely going to be picking in the back end of round one again next year. What do you think or trading our 2012 first round pick to a team picking in the begining of round 2 this year. That would allow us to take that OLB such as Huston, Ayers, Reed etc....

The Steelers never trade their 1st round picks for a reason.

Same philosophy needs to be applied.

We never know what can happen in FA. The Jets need to always keep their 1st rounder.

Reed, Ayers, Houston, etc all have enough negatives that don't make them surefire elite pass rushers and therefore the 2012 1st rounder should be kept for next year.

If anything I'd use later picks from 2012

It is a terrible idea to trade future 1st round picks - why teams continue to hand their future 1st rounders to the patriots is beyond me.

I am vehemently against ever trading future picks for unproven prospects. You never know what will happen, and clearly none of these guys is the immediate answer to our pass rushing prayers. If they were, they would have been drafted well before 30. It's time to say goodbye to those players, and start thinking about finding value later in the draft. We shouldnt trade away the rest of our draft to move up for one of these guys since they won't give us significant help this year anyways.

There will be guys later who can help us, jeremy beal, bruce miller in the 4th, and with the possibility of landing a potential stud safety in the third, with Jarret or Williams or possibly even Mcdaniel, I am against the whole idea of throwing those options away...

We have options in this draft still and someone could drop to us in the third.I dont think trading our first round is very smart and probably wouldn't want to trade our second round pick.

To those that are wondering/speculating, of course it could still happen but....

TheJetsStream Will #Jets trade up into 2nd round today? I was told this morning that it's not likely. #nfl

I would absolutely not trade our 2012 1st rounder at this point. I just don't think any of the players available are worth trading a pick this year this year and next year's 1st for .. 2nd rounder is a different story though.

I'm sorry but with every pick in a draft what you're getting is a... well... an unproven prospect.

This pass-rushing class is top heavy but overall thin and I seriously doubt there will be a good OLB waitin for us at the bottom of rd 3... so I wouldn't have any problem with trading up to get one.

im all for trading next years 2nd and this years 3rd if anyone would bite not to the top of the 2nd round but we could still nab someone like Reed right before mid 2nd im hoping.

those picks are practically a 3rd and a 4th so id be happy to part with them just dont know who would want them this year

I'm kind of tired of entering a draft year without a pick in every round. Granted we got some great guys because of it, but it sure would be nice to have at least 7 picks one year. God forbid we have 2 picks in one round for once. Really sucks not having a second this year.

What good pass rushers are available in free agency?

If I understand the trade value chart correctly all of the Jets remaining picks have a combined value of 219. That equals a pick in the mid-70s, about 10 picks into the 3rd round. If the team does nothing, the Jets' next pick right now is #94. I don't see how they could get into the 2nd round with what they have to trade and it seems crazy to package all those picks to move up 20 spots. Better to gather alot of "best availables" and move forward from there.

I guess that would OK if the right guy is still around. Maybe the Jets can find a way to snag an extra pick next year some other way to make up for it.

That's assuming we don't tap into next year's picks.

well i just think this draft is rare with how far multiple ppl are falling cuz of the FA/qb situation.

also ppl like harris and revis mangold and the lot are just now entering their prime. would like to start getting more pieces on the field NOW so as they develop were not a year or two late with our window

plus i just like some of the OLB's still on the board but guys like maybe even Acho will be gone if we sit on our 3rd rd pick.

Im generally not a fan of trading away picks but if you can get a top pass rusher with an early 2nd rounder for next years first which is probably a late pick anyway I'd be ok w that.

With the patriots having the first pick tonight i think they will go ahead and trade away with someone to get another 2012 first round pick. Since we wont be that team trading with them, if Akeem Ayers slips past that spot i say we make a trade for him, maybe package our '11 3rd and '12 2nd too move up. I highly doubt Justin Houston would fall all the way to number 94, but with this draft u never know.

thats what I was thinking, I am not a big fan of trading future picks but if we are picking anyplace close to the same next year as we did this then what is the harm
