We've talked so much about the guys in rd 1... what about the guys that are late round prospects? Who's a prospect that caught your eye and that you'd like the Jets to draft in rd 6 or 7? It might be because of skill or because you just like the kid instinctively... anything goes. I have 3: Steven Friday, OLB, Virginia Tech - I think he'll have ST value and could be used as an occasional rusher. Older prospect and one year "wonder" so he should be available late in the draft. Keith Williams, OG, Nebraska - Bill Callahan + actual talent. If the Jets feel like it will be difficult to keep Turner around (same agents as Revis + I think he should be a starting RG in this league) I'd like this pick. Scotty McKnight, WR, Colorado - I think he could turn out to be an ok slot WR. Also he is Sanchez's best friend and I'd gladly spend a 7th rd pick on a guy that 1. Will make my franchise QB happy and more motivated and 2. Will spend a lot of time working out with Sanchez ultimately making both better.
Steven Friday shouldn't be around in the 7th round. I'd be happy with another Nebraska offensive lineman. Sanchez probably wants McKnight, so I wouldn't be surprised if he's our pick in the seventh round. Kentrell Lockett and Ricky Elmore are two late rounders that I like.
I was targeting Friday for rd 6... with the late rd prospects who knows when they are drafted. What's the name of the other Nebraska OG that was at the combine? Is he worth a late round flier? It says on the interweb that Lockett was granted a 6th year of eligibility... I assume that means he isn't available in the draft.
I wouldnt be opposed to adding a guy who Sanchez would be happy to have around, anything to get him spending extra time working with his receivers in the offseason... That said, I really think that the Nebraska guards (Keith Williams and Ricky Henry) are the guys we are looking at late in the draft. If Callahan believes either guy can play at the next level, and they are still around late when we are on the clock, I expect at least 1 to become a Jet. If either one goes undrafted, I would put money on Bill coaxing them into a tryout here in NY. I also like Ugo Chinasa (Ok State) late... We have shown significant interest in Jeremy Kerley out of TCU, if he is there in the 5th or the 6th, I would be shocked if we pass him up.... Gabe Miller has quickly become the talk of the TGG.com draft board as a potential late round guy. I think he goes as a priority FA however. Keep an eye on some UDFA DE's to come into NY. Especially if we don't draft an end early (or at all) Rex has a knack for creating UDFA's on the lines into big time players... But his Miller counterpart, Bruce Miller (UCF) could be on our radar as a 5th round rush OLB. Hopefully at that point we are double dipping at the position... God damn it, why isnt it tomorrow yet?
I think everyone is familiar with my choice, Gabe Miller. I do have a longer list of late round-UDFAs that I'd like to see the Jets pick, but I'll save it for later...
Sheamus O'Mailey - P - Delaware - This kid is real thing, really under the radar can kick the ball 30-40 yds.
Walterfootball has us taking Chykie Brown with our final pick. Wondering both of your thoughts on that.
I can kick the ball 30 to 40 yards and I don't have a stupid ass name. ...maybe I should be the seventh round pick.
