9 Cowboys - Stephen Paea - DT - Oregon State Again like I said last time Paea is a great talent but they WONT skip over Prince Amukamura, they most likely are cutting Newman and are slim at CB. They can get a solid DT/DE later in the draft. 14 Rams - Von Miller - DE/OLB - Texas A&M Miller wont drop this far he's too good of a talent to fall out all the way to 14. 21 Chiefs - Aldon Smith - DE/OLB - Missouri Id be EXTREMELY surprised at Smith falling to 21. 27 Falcons - Justin Houston - DE - Georgia 28 Patriots - Ryan Kerrigan - DE - Purdue I think these picks should be the other way around, Kerrigan would fit better in a 4-3 and Houston would fit better in a 3-4 32 Packers - Mikel Leshoure - RB - Illinois The Packs will stick with Grant and Starks to start the season, they wont go RB in the 1st. Maybe Heyward or Wilkerson Other then that , overall not bad, theirs my analysis of your picks.
IMO, I don't think Ratliff will play NG for Dallas, Rob Ryan doesn't run a 1 gap D like Phillips did/does. Paea has the ability to play nose for a 2 gap system, he has the strength and enough leverage to absorb blockers and push the pocket.
The very first line says updated as of 03/09/2011 with the old mock at the bottom, in a small font. I thought it was pretty clear.. oh well, I made it tremendously clear now
Jerry Jones has the final say on this pick and I think he's going to take the bench press superstar with his top 10 selection. Guys like Paea don't come around very often. CB may be the smart pick with Newman's uncertainty but I think they roll the dice with Paea early. He's probably top 10 but the quality of DL in this draft is too good to pass up. DE/OLB are unpredictable so I think some of these guys will slip. TGG is in love with this guy. He's got some great moves to get at the qb but his game is predicated on speed. If he bulks up while maintaining his explosiveness he can become great but I think he's got bust written on him. Probably true. I figured the Georgia kid would stay home and the Patriots take the white guy because Belichick and Kraft are racist. I originally had the Pats taking Watt and Kerrigan to keep it all vanilla in the first. Packers will take the BPA at that point so I figured why not a RB. Grant was out for the season so his status is uncertain going forward and the running game was rather shitty last season. Maybe they take an offensive lineman here.. Rodney Hudson from Florida State.. idk.
BTW just for everyone's reference, apparently the Texans have a big interest in Justin Houston so their is a decent chance he could be going even higher than expected
I personally really dislike the heyward pick...i feel like we could pick someone of that position later but if we do go DE id much rather have wilkerson. Even Brooks Reed would be a whole lot better of a pick.
Used that $10,000,000 ESPN thing to make my final mock. Spent no more than 2 minutes on it but I figured it'd be my final run before the draft. 1 Cam Newton QB, Auburn Carolina 2 Marcell Dareus DT, Alabama Denver 3 Patrick Peterson CB, LSU Buffalo 4 A.J. Green WR, Georgia Cincinnati 5 Von Miller OLB, Texas A&M Arizona 6 Julio Jones WR, Alabama Cleveland 7 Robert Quinn DE, UNC San Francisco 8 Blaine Gabbert QB, Missouri Tennessee 9 Prince Amukamara CB, Nebraska Dallas 10 Nick Fairley DT, Auburn Washington 11 J.J. Watt DE, Wisconsin Houston 12 Tyron Smith OT, USC Minnesota 13 Nate Solder OT, Colorado Detroit 14 Aldon Smith DE, Missouri St. Louis 15 Mark Ingram RB, Alabama Miami 16 Da'Quan Bowers DE, Clemson Jacksonville 17 Cameron Jordan DE, California New England 18 Stephen Paea DT, Oregon State San Diego 19 Anthony Castonzo OT, BC NY Giants 20 Ryan Kerrigan DE, Purdue Tampa Bay 21 Phil Taylor DT, Baylor Kansas City 22 Gabe Carimi OT, Wisconsin Indianapolis 23 Jimmy Smith CB, Colorado Philadelphia 24 Brooks Reed DE, Arizona New Orleans 25 Corey Liuget DT, Illinois Seattle 26 Brandon Harris CB, Miami (FL) Baltimore 27 Muhammad Wilkerson DE, Temple Atlanta 28 Justin Houston DE, Georgia New England 29 Mike Pouncey C, Florida Chicago 30 Cameron Heyward DE, Ohio State NY Jets 31 Derek Sherrod OT, MSU Pittsburgh 32 Aaron Williams CB, Texas Green Bay
Side note on the ESPN thing. There is no way in hell anybody can actually win that money. If a single trade happens, then nobody can actually win the money... So yeah if somehow you pick every pick right, and nobody trades at all, then you can win. But since somebody is going to trade somewhere then you won't be winning any money off of it...
Yea, I was thinking that. Then again, it may be that the picks you make stay the same, just the teams will differ. Say if you had Cam Newton going 5th to Arizona, but Minnesota trades into 5th and takes him. Would you still be right? Who the hell knows. I'm sure that'll void it though so ESPN can legally claim a $10MM prize which is virtually impossible to win. Not complaining in the end. I had an enjoyable few minutes mocking that and the added bonus of being eligible for millions doesn't hurt.
This is what I used: http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft2011/features/draftmachine/ It might not even be the $10,000,000 one but it's easy to use and allows for a pretty quick mock. Nevermind there is no link between the two. The $10,000,000 challenge is a facebook thing with Coors Light. Fuck that shit.
that was the only way it could work. but i mean think of the possibilities. All it takes is one trade to screw with it. Say you have zona taking gabbert at 5, and minny trades in and takes Gabbert instead, you might be still alive. But if you had the vikings taking bowers, I doubt that Zona would they would probably look to grab Prince Amukamara, especially if he bypasses dallas. So even if you get the first half of the trade right, the back half will almost certainly be wrong...
Updated Cam Newton to 5th and reslotted the top 5 accordingly. I really don't think Carolina is taking Newton at #1.
