Is Justin Houston your 2011 Jerry Hughes?

Picked Ayers, but I don't think he'll still be there. If he is, I'm loving it. Second choice would be a trade back if possible (like in my mock) and Taylor, Reed, or Houston. 2a would be Heyward. I'm not commenting on Wilkerson since I think he'll be gone too. I don't want any of the others at 30.

EDIT: Add Sheard to the list for a trade back. Didn't notice we were adding people in.

The draft is exciting either way, and Friday would be great talking about who we were going to get instead of having to wait all the way until the late 3rd to see who we were taking.

Gotta say, my favorite moment in the past few years outside of selections was telling a friend late Saturday night 2 years ago "don't be surprised if the Jets are on the clock tomorrow morning" and having us sneak up for Shonn. Didn't know whether he or Gilbert would be the pick, and now they're BOTH on the team!

No, he's not. I just think Houston is a better fit in the 4-3.

I don't think we'll be drafting at 30, but you never know...

    I got that feeling too.
Thing with that shifty Tanny, you really need to watch entire draft. He's done it before where i step away to run an errand, and he trades up/down and i hear it on the radio as breaking news.

If I stay awake till 5am only to see the Jets have traded their pick then I'm going to be pissed.

Ayers seems to be the popular choice. I've seen a few mocks that have the Pats getting Watt and Ayers. That would suck big time.

I'd actually be excited, but unlike you, I understand football.

...ok...so the logic is I don't understand football because I would rather sleep and not watch the first round if the Jets aren't involved??

Would you like to expand on how you reached that conclusion?

If all of our top targets are gone, trading back is a smart move. Moving back most definitely means the Jets are involved.

    [/conclusion]

Actually, do the opposite of this.

It's interesting Parcells has Sheard ranked as a 3rd round prospect and Brooks Reed as a 4th rounder. Just goes to show all these mock drafts on ESPN, etc. don't really know what the NFL higher ups look for in their picks. One team could have Reed ranked in the 20s, another team as a 4th rounder.

As I posted before, I think Phil Taylor is going to end up being our pick, but I'm hoping if we stay at 30 that Ayers or Wilkerson are available. I wouldn't be opposed to trading down, but that just doesn't seem like Tanny and Rex's style.. we're probably more likely to move up and grab a player who might be slipping a little.

No shit trading back would be a smart move. Thank you for providing me with the insights of your genius football IQ.

I have no problem with them doing that. I was simply suggesting that staying up all night to watch a draft for one specific pick, only for that pick not to happen would be rather annoying. I was looking at it purely from that perspective (i.e. the opportunity cost of sleep lost) and made no reference to the potential benefits associated with trading down because in the context of my comment they are not relevant.

You probably did read it and realised you totally missed the point of my original comment...even though it wasn't complex at all. Weak attempt to save face.

No, I honestly didn't read it. I realize that you only care about what moves the Jets make in this draft. I also realize that you're more than likely a bandwagon fan.

Every single pick, made by every single team has an affect on this team. I don't give a god damn if the Jets don't have a pick in certain rounds. There's always the possibility of a trade up or a trade down.

I LOL'd at that saving face comment.

If you want to sleep, go ahead. You can read about the picks in the paper on Friday morning.

My bad for calling you out when you didn't know what you were talking about.

It seems that even with the username switch, you still bitch about everything.

I'm going to vote again just to get some real discussion going again.

If Phil Taylor, Cameron Heyward, and Akeem Ayers are gone, I'd have no problem taking Marvin Austin.

Austin is a flying up boards. The year off is a concern, but he's incredibly athletic and versatile for a 3-4 DE prospect. I think he's got more upside than everyone except Dareus, Fairley, and Watt.
