Manish Mehta from the New York Daily News makes the 30th overall pick in the 2011 On the Beat Mock Draft.
agreed, I want little to no part of Taylor at 30. But if our better options are all gone (completely possible) taylor may be the only viable choice for us.
I am not too sure if I want taylor but I trust Rex and Tanny in making decisions. He definitely has the talent to be successful in this league
ive been on the bandwaggon till the report of the foot condition came out and being as I havent heard any thing on NFLN i assume it is bullshit as someone put out soon as the false reports hit
I would much rather be in favor of a trade back (around 40) and draft phil taylor and gain another pick which could possibly be used to trade back up to get Sheard or Acho. I just feel OLB is such a huge need and I don't want another season with cactus...
He would just be a force for us in the middle freeing up are backers more often Idk if Ayers or Reed are both gone id go taylor
I don't think NT is an enormous need, Pouha has been damn good in that role these past two years and I think DE, especially with Ellis uncertain to return, seems like a more pressing need. I think someone like Heyward might make more sense. It's also usually easier to find a 3-4 NT capable of starting/being a rotational player late in the draft.
I agree that Pouha has been good, but that doesn't mean his position can't be upgraded. How much push does he get on the pocket in passing situations? Does he consistently command a double team and still get any push? We saw the difference on passing downs when Jenkins played. I think Taylor and Ellis have the potential to develop into Jenkins-like players. Neither may be as good as Jenkins at his peak, but close would still be better than what we have in Pouha, who is basically a run stuffer. Having a big, athletic NT right in the QB's face with his arms upraised or collapsing the pocket back towards the QB would help increase pressure significantly. Besides Pouha can always slide out to end. With regard to what is easier to find, I totally disagree with you. Good NTs are the hardest player to find for the 3-4 alignment. Most teams just wind up taking a big, wide body who isn't athletic, and who clogs the middle somewhat, but isn't that great vs the run and does little to pressure QBs. 5 Technique DEs are much easier to find, and their positions are not as important as NTs. I think Ellis will be back. If Pouha gets hurt, who plays NT full time? Tevaseau? He's unknown, and who will rotate with him. The need at NT is bigger imo, because the Jets have fewer prospects to play that all-important position.
i think Heyward is a Charger or a Pat sadly. if were picking at 30 all you can really hope for is Heyward or Ayers. thats just my opinion though. hopefully theres a run on a position nobody saw coming that lets someone fall. cant wait for thurs
You do realize if Taylor pans out we can put him at DE. That was the original plan coming into 2010 before Jenkins got hurt on the third play of the season
Gotta be your first post of the off-season. Either way, hell of a winter we had in Mass, huh? Oh yeah, you added one too many "n"s in the same way you have one too few "a"s............ lol, just an observation my friend.
